Pokemon Heart & Soul

Welcome to Pokémon Heart and Soul! Upon starting a new game, you'll meet Professor Oak who will help get your adventure started.

Your first choice is whether your character is a boy or a girl. In H&S, the female character is modeled after Kris from Pokémon Crystal, who was the first female playable character ever!

Next, you'll be brought to a number a screens in which you can tailor various settings of the game to your liking. There are a multitude of ways to customize your experience so take your time going through all these menus. Once the game starts, you cannot change any of these settings, so be certain of what you choose! Note: For the sake of this walkthrough, I will be playing with the default settings.

After picking your settings, you'll name your character and your adventure will officially begin! Note: Throughout this walkthrough I will be using the directions of a compass to guide you around. As a reminder, North=Up, South=Down, West=Left, and East=Right

You'll wake up in your bedroom. In the northwest corner of your room is a PC. Press A to interact with it and click "Item Storage", 'Withdraw Item", and then select the Potion. You have acquired your first item of the game! Potions heal 20 HP to your Pokémon, you'll be using a lot of these throughout your journey. Press "Start", "Bag", and then you can navigate through different pockets of your bag with the left/right arrows. You'll see the Potion you just got, as well as an item called EXP Share. When turned on, the exp share grants 2/3 the exp gained to the active Pokémon in battle, and then 1/4 of the exp to every party member. Turning it on makes it easier to keep all party members growing consistently. Next, walk towards the staircase in the northeast corner. As you get close, you'll be asked to set the time. Note: You can change the time after the fact, we will walk through that process once we reach our first Pokémon Center.

Afterwards, you'll walk downstairs and speak to your mother, who will tell you that Professor Elm is looking for you. She will also give you your Pokegear and Running Shoes. The most important function of your Pokegear is the Map, you can use that to see where you are throughout the world. You can make calls, but it is very important to pay attention whenever you receive calls-- they will tell you your next step at different junctures in the game.

Our next task is to meet Professor Elm who is located in his lab which is the biggest building in town. You can walk around and interact with various NPC's throughout town, including a very suspicious and aggressive character on the west side of the lab. If you try heading west out of town, an NPC will tell you it's too dangerous to leave without your own Pokémon. Let's head into the lab!

Elm's Lab- Inside you'll meet Professor Elm and he will ask you to raise a Pokémon for him. You'll get a choice between three Pokémon-- the grass type Chikorita, the fire type Cyndaquil, and the water type Totodile. After selecting your starter, you'll be given the option to nickname it. Let's take a moment to check out our new Pokémon's stats/moveset! Press Start, Pokémon, and the select your Pokémon and press Summary. The important things shown on the first screen is your Pokémon's typing, Ability, and Nature. A Pokémon's typing will be more or less effective against different types. Also, moves used by a Pokémon that share it's typing will get a 50% damage boost! A Pokémon's ability causes different effects in battle, some even have secondary effects outside of battle. Finally, a Pokémon's Nature will affect it's stat growth. For example, a Pokémon with an Adamant Nature will have a Attack stat that is boosted by 10%, while giving a 10% decrease to it's Special Attack stat. There are some natures which have a neutral effect on stats. At a later point in the game it is possible to switch Natures. The next screen will show a Pokémon's stats, held item, and the Exp Points needed to reach the next level. Assuming you don't have a neutral nature, you'll see the stat boosted by your nature highlighted in red, and the one decreased in blue. If you press R, you'll be shown your Pokémon's IVs (Internal Values). These are unchangeable values which affect your Pokémon's growth, 0 being the lowest, and 31 being the highest. Pressing L will show your Pokémon's EVs (Effort Values). Each Pokémon defeated will yield a specific amount/type of EVs, every 4 EVs equals an extra stat gain by the time your Pokémon reaches level 100. There are also items that can be used to raise EV's. You can get a max of 510 total EVs, and up to 252 in a single stat. 252 EVs equates to 63 stat points which is a huge boost. Finally, the next screen shows your Pokémon's moveset. Here you can see a moves typing along with the power/effects. After selecting your Pokémon, Elm will direct you to find Mr. Pokémon north of Cherrygrove city. He also tells you that you can use the machine in the top left corner of his lab to heal your Pokémon. As you leave the lab, Elm's assistant will give you a Potion. Time to leave our hometown by heading west towards Route 29!

Upon entering your first route, you'll notice the patches of grass. Wild Pokémon can be found here. If you look around the route you'll see different Pokémon's sprites in the overworld--these can be used to know what Pokémon can be encountered on a route! There are no trainers to battle on this route, so you've only got these wild Pokémon to deal with. You don't have access to Pokeballs yet, so you can only battle wild Pokémon for now. You'll also notice the brown ledges as you walk through the route--you can hop over these, one way, while navigating. On the northeast side of the route, a Potion can be found. You'll see a building to the north--this leads to a small part of Route 46. We will head there in a moment, for now let's finish exploring Route 29. To the left of that building you'll see a chunky NPC named Tuscany of the Weekday Family. You'll find various family members throughout Johto who will all give you items if you can guess their favorite day of the week. Tuscany's is Tuesday, and he will gift you a Silk Scarf! Open your bag and read the effects granted by this item, it will be immediately useful no matter which starter you picked. A little further to the west you'll find a berry tree which gives 5 Oran Berries. Berry Trees will naturally replenish themselves, so be sure to check them whenever exploring. Before moving on to Cherrygrove City to the west, let's go back to that building to the north and check out Route 46.

For now, there isn't anything else to do except encounter wild Pokémon. Time to head towards Cherrygrove to the west of Route 29.

Upon entering Cherrygrove, and old man will offer to give you a tour of the town. The building with the red roof is the Pokémon Center, you can heal your Pokémon here for free and also access the PC where you can store items and Pokémon. The building with the blue roof is the Pokémart. Right now, you can only purchase Antidote's and Potion's. Pokémart's item lists update at different junctures, so be sure and check them out regularly to see what's available. Once you're done exploring the city, head north to Route 30.

Shortly after the entrance to the route you will see another berry tree yielding 5 Oran Berries. Inside the house, you can speak to an NPC to get a Cheri Berry. Up ahead, the path will branch into two, with the west path currently blocked by an ongoing trainer battle. To the east, you'll find Mr. Pokémon's house, be sure and grab the 5 Oran Berries before entering. Inside, Mr. Pokémon will give you the Mystery Egg for Elm to examine. You'll also be given a Pokedex by Professor Oak! Upon leaving the house you'll get a phone call from Elm asking you to return to the lab immediately. Before heading back, press start and open up your Pokedex. Along with a blurb describing the Pokémon, you can also see where it can be found in the wild, it's base stats, learnset, potential abilities, and means of evolution. It's an extremely useful tool as you progress through the game! Head back to Cherrygrove and heal up at the Pokécenter, we've got a battle awaiting us as we head east to leave the city...

Remember that pushy guy outside of Elm's lab? He's back, and challenges you to your first trainer battle! He will always have a level 5 starter that your starter is weak to. Wonder where he got that from? Head back to Elm's lab in New Bark Town to join a conversation with a police officer. You'll find out the Pokémon your rival has was stolen from Elm, and will be asked what his name was. After naming your rival and finishing this conversation, you'll hand the Mystery Egg over to Elm. He'll make note of your Pokedex and encourages you to take on the Pokémon Gym challenge. As you leave the lab, Elm's assistant will give you 5 Pokeballs. We can now start catching Pokémon! Stop by your house and let your mom know you are leaving, and then we will head back to Route 30 and make our way to Violet City, the location of the first Pokémon Gym!

There are a couple of things to check out before Route 30. First, the old man right outside of New Bark Town now offers an explanation on catching Pokémon. This is completely optional. Next, be sure and stop by the Pokémart in Cherrygrove, it's menu has been updated, most notably Pokeballs are now purchasable. Note: every 10 Pokeballs purchased yields a free Premier Ball. After you finish up, head north to Route 30 and take the left path that was previously blocked by a trainer battle. Now we get a turn! Your first battle will be with Youngster Joey who has a Lv 4 Rattata. Next up will be Youngster Mikey who has a Lv 2 Hoothoot and a Lv 4 Sentret. Continuing north, you'll encounter your final trainer on the route Bug Catcher Don. He has a Lv 3 Ledyba and a Lv 3 Spinarak. Continuing north will lead you to Route 31.

You'll notice a cave opening towards the beginning of the route, we will address that once we clear out Route 31. The only trainer on the route is Bug Catcher Wade, he has a Lv 4 Weedle and a Lv 5 Pineco. You'll find a berry tree which yields 5 Cheri Berries, and an Antidote in the grass. To the west is Violet City, but let's go back to that cave real quick.

You'll notice the cave living up to it's name right as you enter. Exploration becomes much easier once we acquire the Flash HM in Violet City. Unlike outside, wild Pokémon can appear at any time in a cave, so be wary of that fact. In the northwest corner there is a Potion on the ground. That's as far as we can explore here for now so head out and west towards Violet City.

Welcome to Violet City! Right as you enter town you'll see the Pokécenter. In the house to the left of the Pokécenter there is an NPC who will trade an Onix holding a Persim Berry for a Bellsprout. A bit further into the town and to the left of the gym, you'll see an NPC with glasses. If you answer his question with "No", he'll escort you to the Trainer School, where several NPC have helpful hints. Heading south, you'll find a berry tree with 5 Cheri Berries. An NPC will prevent further exploration south for now. Finally, head to the northern part of town where you will see Sprout Tower. Before entering, grab the Pecha Berry to the right of the tower.

The path through Sprout Tower is straightforward, start by heading up the ladder and to the west where you will battle Sage Nico. He has a Lv 3 Bellsprout, a Lv 4 Hoppip, and another Lv 3 Bellsprout. Continuing to the next floor, you'll find a Paralyz Heal on the floor. You'll battle Sage Chow who has a Lv 3 Bellsprout, a Lv 3 Sunkern, and another Lv 3 Bellsprout. On the next floor, you'll find an X Defend on the ground. You'll battle Sage Edmond who has a three Lv 3 Bellsprout. Moving on to the final floor, the first trainer to the west is Sage Jin who has a Lv 6 Bellsprout. To the east is Sage Neal who has a Lv 6 Bellsprout. Up ahead in front of the pillar is Sage Troy who has a Lv 7 Hoppip and a Lv 7 Bellsprout. Past the pillar you will have a brief conversation with your rival before battling Sage Li who has a Lv 7 Oddish, a Lv 9 Bellsprout, and a Lv 8 Sunkern. You'll also be awarded HM05 (Flash) for winning this battle! Once we acquire the Violet City gym badge, you can go back and illuminate the Dark Cave for easier exploration. Grab the Escape Rope on the floor and head out of Sprout Tower. You can explore Route 36 East and the Ruins of Alph before challenging the gym, for this walkthrough, I'll break down the gym first.

Time to get our first gym badge! Your first battle will be with Bird Keeper Rod who has a Lv 7 Pidgey and a Lv 7 Natu, you'll win ₽224 in prize money. Your next battle will be with Bird Keeper Abe who has a Lv 9 Spearow, you'll win ₽288 in prize money. Finally you'll battle Leader Falkner who has a Lv 8 Pidgey and a Lv 11 Noctowl (holding a Sitrus Berry which recovers 25% of it's health). You'll be granted the Zephyrbadge which raises your Pokémon's Attack and allows you to use Flash outside of battle. You will also be given TM32 (Double Team). Note: In H&S, a Pokémon simply needs to be able to learn a move to use it in the overworld-- there is no need to teach them the move unless you plan to use it in battle. HM moves can also be forgotten naturally.

You'll get a phone call from Elm telling you to meet his assistant at the Violet City Pokécenter. Head there, and you'll be given the Mystery Egg! This will eventually hatch into Togepi, to do so, you must carry it in your party until it hatches. Once it does, you can head back to New Bark and show Elm your Togepi/Togetic/Togekiss for a free Everstone. Our next stop will be Route 36 which is west of Violet City.

Houndour and Growlithe are notable new potential encounters here. You'll also find another member of the Weekday Family name Arthur, respond to his question with Thursday and you'll be gifted a Hard Stone. If you try going west, your path is blocked by a mysterious tree. We will clear that later on. Once you're finished up, head south through the gate towards the Ruins of Alph.

As you enter, you'll see a patch of grass to the west. You'll also see a building containing scientists, the top right one can resurrect fossils. Outside there are two cave entrances. The lower, larger cave is the main Ruin, there won't be any wild encounters here until be complete another step. Head to the upper cave where you will find the first sliding puzzle room, this one being Kabuto, the final result is pictured here. You'll notice a sensor on northern wall, we will address that shortly. Once you finish the puzzle, you'll fall into a hole which takes you into the main ruin, and you'll find a Dome Fossil on the ground. The main ruin will now have wild Unown. There isn't a reward for catching them all, but if you're aiming to be a completionist, there are 28 different forms of Unown. Makes for a fun looking box! Return to the scientist to revive your fossil into a Lv 5 Kabuto, add it into your party and bring it to the front so that it is your follower and return to the puzzle room. Interacting with the sensor will now open up a room where you find an Oran Berry, a Pecha Berry, and Energypowder, and a Heal Powder. You'll then drop down into another chamber with some lore spelled out in Unown characters. The message reads, "Our words shall remain here for the ages". Drop down one more time to find yourself in the main ruin and head to the exit. We are done with the Ruins for now, there are 3 more puzzles that will be accessible later in the game. Head through the east gate towards Route 32.

This route is a bit bigger than the ones we have traversed thus far. As you head south into the route, you'll be stopped by an NPC who will gift you a Miracle Seed. Continuing south, you'll battle Youngster Albert who has a Lv 7 Sentret and a Lv 7 Zubat. Below and slightly to the west, you'll find a Great Ball in the grass. Close to that will be Picnicker Liz who has a Lv 9 Nidoran (F). Continuing south, you'll notice the path splits in two, we will keep left and battle Camper Roland who has a Lv 9 Nidoran (M). Continuing south, you'll battle Youngster Gordon who has a Lv 10 Wooper. Shortly south (before going down the stairs) you'll find a Great Ball on the ground. Just north of the stairs you'll find a Potion on the ground. After descending the stairs, you'll notice a path going east and then north, we will go this way to clear out the trainers we previously skipped. First up will be Fisherman Henry who has a Lv 7 Marill and a Lv 7 Poliwag. Next will be Fisherman Ralph who has a Lv 8 Goldeen. Finally we will battle Fisherman Justin who has a Lv 7 Tentacool. Head back south to have a sketchy character try and sell you a Slowpoke Tail for ₽1,000,000, say no and heal up at the Pokécenter. Inside you'll meet a fisherman who will give you the Old Rod. Exit the Pokécenter face the final trainer on the route Bird Keeper Peter who has a Lv 8 Spearow and a Lv 8 Natu. Heal up if you need to at the Pokécenter and let's head into Union Cave!

Welcome to Union Cave! We'll be coming back through later to reach spots that are currently inaccessible. To start we will battle Hiker Russell who has a Lv 9 Geodude and a Lv 8 Cubone. Continuing west, you'll find a Potion on the ground and, south from there, you'll find an Awakening on the ground. From there, you'll head east and battle Hiker Daniel who has a Lv 11 Onix. Next will be Firebreather Bill who has a Lv 11 Growlithe. Below him is a Great Ball on the ground. As you head east and then south, you'll notice staircase which leads to a battle with Pokemaniac Larry who has a Lv 10 Larvitar. Take the ladder down to B1F where you will find an X Defend on the ground. You can also find Pikablu Marill down here. Head back up the ladder and continue east until you see a path that goes south, you'll find an X Attack on the ground at the end of this path. Head back to the branch and head east where you will battle Firebreather Ray who has a Lv 9 Vulpix. Shortly after you will find the exit of the cave to Route 33.

This is another tiny route, as you exit Union Cave, head south and collect 5 Pecha Berries from a berry tree. Head east to battle the only trainer, Hiker Anthony, who has a Lv 11 Geodude and a Lv 11 Machop. Head east past the Slowpoke Well currently blocked by a Team Rocket grunt and we will arrive at Azalea Town.

Azalea is a small town, the path to the west leads to Ilex Forest which we will explore later. Heal up at the Pokécenter if needed, and head towards the house in the northwest corner of town. Before heading inside, collect 5 Pecha Berries from the berry tree. Inside you'll meet the pokeball maker Kurt who will inform you that Team Rocket are cutting off Slowpoke tails in the Slowpoke Well and then rushes off to stop them. Better follow and see if he needs help.

Kurt has certainly seen better days--he'll ask us to take on Team Rocket in his stead. The first Rocket Grunt has a Lv 9 Rattata and a Lv 11 Rattata. The next Rocket Grunt has a Lv 9 Rattata and a Lv 9 Zubat. You'll find a Super Potion on the ground, and a Great Ball on the ground south from the Super Potion. Rocket Eto has a Lv 11 Elekid, a Lv 11 Magby, and a Lv 11 Smoochum. Finally we take on Rocket Admin Proton who has a Lv 12 Koffing, a Lv 15 Houndour, and a Lv 13 Slowpoke. After the battle, Kurt will congratulate you and take you back to his house. You can now give Kurt berries to turn into special type-effective pokeballs, the best you can get aside from the Master Ball and one other that will remained unnamed for the moment. The balls made by Kurt sell for ₽500 a piece, so this is a good way to farm money whenever necessary. The gym is now open, so we will head there and get our second badge.

Bugsy's gym has multiple platforms which will take you to different parts in the gym. If you're wanting to skip the trainers and head directly to Bugsy, you'll take the right platform and then the left. We will go ahead and battle all the trainers for the sake of this walkthrough. The first middle platform will take you to Bug Catcher Benny who has a Lv 9 Kakuna and a Lv 12 Beedrill. Back at the beginning, taking the right platform will start a double battle with Twins Amy & May who have a Lv 12 Ledyba and a Lv 12 Spinarak. Head back to the beginning and take the left platform to get to the second set of platforms. The middle platform will take you to Bug Catcher Josh who has a Lv 12 Yanma. Head back and take the left platform for a battle with Bug Catcher Al who has a Lv 9 Metapod and a Lv 12 Butterfree. The last platform for us to take is to the right which will take us to Leader Bugsy who has a Lv 15 Pineco, a Lv 16 Scyther (holding a berry juice), and a Lv 15 Ledian. Bugsy will award you the Hivebadge which makes all Pokémon up to level 30 obey you and allows you to use Cut in the overworld, as well as the ability to Headbutt trees. You'll also be given TM09 (Bullet Seed). Be sure and heal up once you leave the gym, we have a battle with our Rival shortly.

As you try to head west out of Azalea, your Rival will show up and challenge you to a battle. Below are the 3 different partys that he will use, dependent on what starter you chose. After the battle, heal up and then head west through the gate to Ilex Forest!

Welcome to Ilex Forest! Like caves, wild Pokémon can appear anywhere in the forest. As you follow the path, you'll meet an NPC who had a Farfetch'd take off on him. Let's help the little guy! Continuing on, you'll see the Farfetch'd in the overworld. Interact with it to cause it run off, there will be 6 times where you will interact with the Farfetch'd before it will get back to it's owner. Note: be sure and interact with it from behind the 6th time, otherwise you might accidentally redirect it back into the forest which starts the process all over again. Once you've finished, you'll be awarded HM01(Cut). We will backtrack and collect a few items now available to us due to Cut once we finish up the Ilex Forest section, feel free to skip ahead to the next section for those locations if you want to save yourself from having to walk back through the forest. Use cut on the tree nearby to continue through the forest. You'll notice the Ilex Forest Shrine, which has some fun in store for us later on. Keep left when the path branches and you'll see an Ether on the ground. Further ahead will be a Full Heal on the ground. Continue on, once again taking left at the fork, and then right at the next one, you'll find TM11 (Sunny Day) on the ground. Backtrack to the previous fork and go left to find an NPC who can teach your Pokémon Headbutt. Hop over the ledge and head back up north to find a Kimono Girl lost in the forest. No matter how you answer her question, your follower will lead her to the exit and immediately return to you. Head west to have a battle with Bug Catcher Wayne who has a Lv 15 Paras and a Lv 15 Oddish. You'll notice an NPC close to the exit that can teach your Pokémon Fury Cutter. The exit ahead will lead to Route 34, but first we will backtrack and collect a few items, so head back to Azalea.

First, we will stop by the Charcoal Kiln on the southeast corner of Azalea where the apprentice we previously helped will give you a Charcoal. Next you'll go through Union cave back to Route 32 where you can now cut the tree blocking the path to another member of the Weekday Family Frieda--answer her question with Friday to acquire a Poison Barb. Head north through the route to find another tree which leads to an NPC who gives you TM05 (Roar), there is also a Super Potion on the ground. Finally, head back to Violet City to find another tree just north of the Pokécenter, you'll find a Rare Candy on the ground. That's it for now so make your way back through Ilex Forest and get ready for Route 34.

Shortly after entering the route you will battle Youngster Samuel who has a Lv 12 Teddiursa, a Lv 12 Spearow, and a Lv 12 Sandshrew. Follow the road east and then north to battle PokeFan Brandon who has a Lv 15 Snubbull. Head west into the grass to battle Camper Todd who has a Lv 15 Azumarill. Head north back to the path to battle Youngster Ian who has a Lv 12 Mankey and a Lv 14 Diglett. You'll notice a building to the east, we will come back here as soon as we finish clearing out the route. Further north you have a battle, that only takes place at night, with Officer Keith who has a Lv 16 Growlithe. You'll find a Super Potion on the ground in the grass to the east, as well as Picnicker Gina who has a Lv 14 Skiploom and a Lv 14 Bulbasaur. That's it for this route for now, so head back to that building we recently skipped.

Welcome to the Day Care! You can leave up to 2 Pokémon here, and they will gain 1 exp for every step you take. There is a base charge of ₽100 per Pokémon, and then another ₽100 per level gained. You can breed Pokémon to produce eggs if two Pokémon of opposite genders are from the same egg group (I recommend googling what these are). Ditto can breed with anything, including genderless Pokémon. The exceptions to the rule are Legendaries, Unown, Baby Pokémon, Nidorina, and Nidoqueen. I'd recommend breeding with Ditto to simplify the process, you can find them right outside on Route 34. The daycare couple's son will offer the Odd Egg to you if respond to his question correctly. The species of the Pokémon within is dependent on your response, the answers can be found by reading the bookcases left to right, but I'll also give you all possible phrases below. Whatever Pokémon hatches from this egg has a 14% chance of being shiny (having a unique color palette). Once you're finished here, head north to Goldenrod City.

Welcome to Goldenrod City! To the north is Route 35. As you enter Goldenrod City, you'll get a phonecall from Elm reminding you to swing by his lab and show him the Pokémon which hatched from the Mystery Egg if you haven't already. Head back to New Bark Town with Togepi/Togetic/Togekiss as your follower and Elm will give you an Everstone. Back at Goldenrod, you'll notice the Goldenrod Dept Store to your right as you enter the city. You'll find a greater variety of items to purchase here than you would at a normal Pokémart. Before heading upstairs to check out the different shops, take the elevator down to Floor 0. Talking to the NPCs down here will cause the Machokes to move the boulders out of your way. You'll find an Exp Share S, an Ether, and an Ultra Ball on the floor. Head back up to 1F and go up the stairs. As you ascend, you'll notice signs explaining what is sold on each floor. On the 5th floor during the day, there will be an NPC to the left of the TM vendor who will give you one of two TMs depending on your friendship level with your following Pokémon. For those that have very high friendship (heart in summary either nearly full or gold), you'll be given TM27 (Return). For those that have minimal friendship, you'll be given TM21 (Frustration). In my experience, the latter is most easily obtained by catching a wild Pokémon, entering a battle, and then allowing it to be attacked while you recover with medicinal herbs (items that heal at the cost of friendship), and then allowing your partner to be knocked out. We'll soon meet a vendor who sells these herbs. On the 6th floor, you'll find an NPC who will trade you a Machop holding a Macho Brace for a Bellsprout. The only thing left to do here is to stock up on whatever items you'd like, and then head outside. Our next stop will be the house you see directly to the east of the Dept Store entrance, so head north, east, and then south to reach the bike shop where you'll be given the Bike. You can change the speed of your bike by pressing R while stationary. Head back to the main path, go north and then east at the Gym and enter the Flower Shop beside the gym. The NPC on the south side of the shop will gift you a random Berry. Exit the shop and head west across the main road and enter the first house to meet the Name Rater. Finaly, head outside and to the building west of the Name Rater to enter the Goldenrod Underground.

Your first battle will be with Super Nerd Eric who has a Lv 15 Grimer and a Lv 15 Cubone. You'll find a Paralyz Heal on the ground, and then battle Super Nerd Teru who has a Lv 14 Voltorb, a Lv 14 Magnemite, and a Lv 14 Porygon. Head down the hallway to the east to get the Coin Case. Continuing south you'll notice 3 tables potentially staffed by different NPCs depending on the time of day. At nighttime, the first table will be staffed by the younger Salon Brother who can give your Pokémon a friendship boosting haircut for ₽300. During the daytime, the middle table is staffed by the older Salon Brother whose service costs ₽500 and boosts friendship even more than his yonger brother. The final table will perpetually be staffed by the Herb Lady. Herbs are cheap healing items which decrease friendship upon use. You'll find an Antidote and a Super Potion on the floor before battling Pokemaniac Donald who has two Lv 15 Slowpokes. The next trainer is Pokemaniac Isaac who has a Lv 14 Lickitung. Take the exit to the south to wind back up in Goldenrod and then head north to the Game Corner where you can now buy coins which can be used to purchase Pokémon and some strong TMs. Rather than buying coins, you have the option to play the slots or roulette to get coins. Once you are finished up here, exit the Game corner and head north on the main street, and take the first path heading east to arrive at the Radio Tower.

You'll notice an NPC with pink hair named Whitney at the counter as you enter the Radio Tower. Speak to the attendant behind the table and answer the questions with Yes, Yes, No, Yes, No, to receive the Radio. Whitney will say it's time for her to head back to the gym, opening the gym to challengers. Talking to the attendent on the east side of the table will grant you entry into the Goldenrod Loto--a random trainer id number will be generated and you can win different prizes if any Pokémon you own have trainer id numbers which match. The prizes are: 2 numbers matched yields a PP Up, 3 yield a Macho Brace, 4 yield a Max Revive, and a perfect match of all 5 numbers yields a Master Ball! You can do this once per day. That's it for the Tower, to the north of Goldenrod, Route 35, the National Park, and part of Route 36 are open for exploration and have multiple trainers/Pokémon to face. If you need more training before the gym, skip ahead to Route 35 and finish your preparations because we will challenge the Goldenrod City Gym next!

Head north as you enter the gym to battle Lass Carrie who has a Lv 18 Happiny. Continuing up and around, you'll battle Beauty Samantha who has a Lv 18 Meowth. Next will be Beauty Victoria who has a Lv 15 Teddiursa and a Lv 17 Furret. The final gym trainer before facing Whitney will be Lass Bridget who has a Lv 16 Aipom and a Lv 16 Munchlax. Finally you'll have a battle with Leader Whitney who has a Lv 20 Clefairy, a Lv 20 Teddiursa, and the infamous Lv 21 Miltank holding a Sitrus Berry. Upon defeat, Whitney will start crying and not immediately hand over her badge, but after trying to leave and having Lass Bridget inform you this is a regular occurrence, talk to Whitney again to be given the Plainbadge which raises your Pokémon's attack and allows you to use Strength outside of battle. You'll also be given TM45 (Attract). The next thing we will do is stop by the Flower Shop next door and talk to the NPC on the west side of the building, she will give you the Squirtbottle which we can use to clear that weird tree we saw earlier on Route 36. Heal up and head north towards Route 35. Within the gate on the way out of town, speak to the guard, he will ask you to deliver a Lv 20 Spearow to his friend on Route 31. We will soon have a shortcut there, so continue on to Route 35.

Head north to start a battle with Picnicker Kim who has a Lv 18 Vulpix. Continue on to battle Camper Elliot who has a Lv 16 Sandshrew and a Lv 16 Marill, and then Picnicker Brooke who has a Lv 18 Pikachu. Next up we'll battle Camper Ivan who has a Lv 16 Eevee and a Lv 16 Diglett, then Juggler Irwin who has two Lv 16 Voltorbs and a Lv 16 Pineco. Firebreather Walt has two Lv 15 Magmars, and to the right of the gate up ahead at night, you will face Officer Dirk who has a Lv 16 Growlithe and a Lv 16 Houndour. We won't head through the gate quite yet, instead head east into the grass to battle Bug Catcher Arnie who has a Lv 18 Yanma and a Lv 18 Venonat. Head south and then up and around a bend to find a Paralyz Heal on the ground. Head back to the grass and head south to battle Bird Keeper Bryan who will have a Lv 18 Pidgey, a Lv 18 Pidgeotto, and a Lv 18 Spearow, you'll find TM39 (Rock Tomb) on the ground a little to the east. That's it for Route 35, head back and heal up if needed and then head through the gate to the north into the National Park.

Within the gate leading to the park, you can talk to a guard (dressed in green) to take part in the Bug Catching Contest. You'll be given 30 Safari Balls (which disappear once the contest is finished) and take the first Pokémon in your party. You'll face a unique set of encounters during contests with the aim being to catch the strongest Pokémon possible (Scyther and Pinser will always yield 1st place). The rewards are:

Any experience earned will be reverted once the contest ends. Now let's clear out the interior without taking part in the contest. As you enter, head east to find an NPC on a bench next to a Persian, she will give you a Quick Claw. Head north into the grass to battle School Kid Jack who has a Lv 16 Sunflora and a Lv 17 Voltorb. Towards the west in that same patch of grass you'll battle Parasol Lady Beverly who has a Lv 20 Snubbull. Head north into the taller grass to battle Lass Krise who has a Lv 17 Skiploom and a Lv 16 Cubone. To the east in that same grass you'll battle Pokefan William who has a Lv 15 Raichu. Towards the northwest corner will be an old lady who will heal your party. Cut the tree just east from her and head east around the corner to find a Soothe Bell on the ground. Retrace your steps and head west and then south to eventually find TM28 (Dig). That's it for the National Park, heal up with that old lady if needed and exit through the east gate to arrive on the west side of Route 36.

As you enter the route, head north to grab 5 Persim Berries from the berry tree. Moving along the route will lead to a battle with Psychic Mark who has two Lv 15 Abras and a Lv 16 Kadabra, and then School Kid Alan who has a Lv 20 Tangela and a Lv 20 Growlithe. Up ahead, use the Squirtbottle on the tree to have an encounter with a Lv 20 Sudowoodo. Note: if you attempt to run away, Sudowoodo will remain on the map, interact with it again to start a new encounter. Immediately after catching or defeating Sudowoodo, you'll notice an NPC jumping to the east. Speak to him to get HM06 (Rock Smash). Note: Whenever you smash rocks with Rock Smash, there will be a chance you receive a Red Shard, Blue Shard, Yellow Shard, Green Shard, or Heart Scale. You may also encounter wild Pokémon. We now have a straight shot to Route 31, so head east through Violet City and give Kenya the Spearow to the chubby guy next to the berry tree, you'll be given TM41 (Torment). Return to the gate north of Goldenrod to get an HP Up from the guard who asked you to make the delivery. Head back and then west through the path previously blocked by Sudowoodo to end up at Route 37.

Keep north at the fork to battle Twins Ann & Anne who have a Lv 18 Clefairy and a Lv 18 Furret. Close by will be another member of the Weekday Family name Sunny, answer his question with "Sunday" to be given a Magnet. Head back down to the fork in the path and head east and the north to battle Psychic Greg who has a Lv 22 Stantler. Up ahead you can collect 5 Chesto Berries from a berry tree. Continue north to enter Ecruteak City.

Welcome to Ecruteak City! To the east is Route 38, and to the west is Route 42. In the northwest corner, you'll find a Rare Candy on the ground. From here, head to the Pokécenter to meet Bill.

Inside the Pokécenter you will meet Bill at the PC. He mentions you can visit him anytime in Goldenrod--let's do that now! Head back to Goldenrod, go into the alley in front of the Game Corner, and then into the first house you see. Inside, speak to Bill to receive a Lv 20 Eevee! Head back to Ecruteak and into the Dance Theater just north of Ecruteak's Pokécenter.

Inside, you'll see a Rocket harassing a Kimono Girl on stage. Speak to the Rocket Grunt for a battle, he has a Lv 20 Koffing. As you leave, an old man will give you HM03 (Surf). Our next stop will be at the Burned Tower on the northwest edge of town.

Eusine will introduce himself as you enter the tower. He talks about how he heard the legendary Pokémon Suicune might be in the building... East of his location you'll find an HP Up on the ground. Heading west and then north will lead you to a battle with Burglar Richardo who has a Lv 20 Koffing and a Lv 19 Growlithe. Up ahead you'll be challenged by your Rival to another battle, his potential parties are:

After the battle, you will fall into a hole that opens up beneath you. You'll find yourself in front of the three Legendary Beasts, who will awaken and immediately flee the building. Suicune will eventually be a static encounter, but now Entei will be roaming the map (meaning it can be found in random routes around Johto), and Raikou will spawn once Entei is either knocked out or caught. Both will be Lv 40, and immediately flee the battle, even if put to sleep, so my recommendation would be to train up a speedy Pokémon that knows Mean Look when you are ready to hunt them down (Gengar is my go-to). All three will be registered as "seen" in your Pokedex, so you can look at Entei's (and then Raikou's) location as you walk between routes to see if it can be found on whatever route you are currently on. Back to the tower, you'll find an Ultra Ball on the ground. Head back the ladder west across the northern part of the building to battle Firebreather Nard who has a Lv 21 Charmeleon. Head west to find an Ether on the ground. That's it for the Burned Tower! The Ecruteak Gym can now be challenged, I'll be walking through that next, but it's worth noting that you can skip to Routes 38 & 39 and go as far as the Olivine Lighthouse if you need some extra training, there are quite a few trainers to battle at those locations. For now, heal up, and let's go get our next badge!

The path through this gym is a little gimmicky, start on the green tile and step forward into the darkness, your aim will to remain on the white/grey patterned path going forward, stepping off the path will warp you to the beginning of the gym. The first gym trainer is Sage Jeffrey who has a Lv 21 Ghastly, a Lv 21 Murkrow, and a Lv 21 Haunter. Next up will be Hex Maniac Martha who has a Lv 20 Haunter and a Lv 20 Houndour. Sage Ping wil have a Lv 22 Misdreavus, followed by Hex Maniac Grace who has a Lv 20 Haunter and a Lv 20 Murkrow. Finally you'll reach the Leader Morty who has a Lv 24 Haunter, a Lv 23 Stantler, a Lv 24 Misdreavus, and a Lv 25 Gengar holding a Sitrus Berry. Upon victory you'll be awarded the Fogbadge which allows all Pokémon up to Lv 50 to obey and grants the ability to use Surf in the overworld. You'll also be given TM30 (Shadow Ball). With access to Surf, there are several items now available to us that we will be collecting once we get one more HM from the next town. You can also now head back to the Flower Shop in Goldenrod to buy mints which change the nature of your Pokémon. The next 3 gyms can be taken on in any order (the gym leaders scale accordingly), I'll be taking walking us through what I feel is the most convenient path. Heal up and head west towards Route 38! Note: As of V1.2.1, it is important that you make your way west out of Ecruteak to Route 39 before heading east to Mahogany. Failure to do so can eventually lead to a progression blocking bug. This will be fixed in the future!

Heading west out of Ecruteak will take you to Route 38. We will take the path south to begin which leads to a battle with Beauty Valerie who has a Lv 22 Skiploom and a Lv 21 Miltank. Head west to battle Bird Keeper Toby who has two Lv 22 Doduos. Heading just a bit further west across a bridge eads to a Lax Incense on the ground. Head back to where Toby is and then go north to battle Beauty Olivia who has a Lv 21 Corsola, east from here you'll see Lass Dana who has a Lv 19 Flaafy and a Lv 20 Psyduck. Head east one final time to battle Sailor Harry who has a Lv 23 Quagsire. Towards the center of the route is a berry tree which yields 5 Rawst Berries. Head west across the northern bridge to battle School Kid Chad who has a Lv 22 Mr. Mime and a Lv 22 Magnemite. Follow the path south and then west to end up on Route 39 where we will have a big decision to make as we enter the route.

As you walk into Route 39, you'll see a large shadow of a Pokémon cross the ground. An NPC will ask if you saw what color the Pokémon was. Your answer will determine which Legendary Pokémon you face before the Elite 4 (you'll get the other one later in the game). Choose "Gold" if you'd like Ho-oh or "Silver" if you'd like Lugia. For this walkthrough, I will be selecting Gold. The NPC will introduce himself as Baoba, and will tell you about the Safari Zone he plans on opening in Cianwood. You'll register each other's numbers in the Pokegear, and he'll tell you he will give you a call once the Safari Zone is open.

Continuing west will lead to a battle with Psychic Norman who has a Lv 22 Slowpoke and a Lv 23 Slowpoke. The Moomoo Farm is next to Norman, you'll find a berry tree which yields 5 Rawst Berries amongst the Miltank. Beside the building on the northwest corner you'll find TM31 (Brick Break). Head into that building to find out Moomoo the Miltank is sick, talk to it five times to feed it 5 oran berries which will restore it to health. Head to the building next door and talk to the female NPC to be given TM49 (Snatch). You can also buy Moomoo milk from the other NPC in this building. Head out and back to the main path and then go south for a battle with Parasol Lady Ruth who has a Lv 23 Pikachu, Pokefan Derek who has a Lv 22 Pikachu and a Lv 22 Ponyta, and then Sailor Eugene who has a Lv 20 Poliwhirl and a Lv 22 Tauros. At night time you can battle Parasol Lady Jaime who has a Lv 20 Umbreon in front of the patch of grass to the west of these three trainers. Within that same patch of grass a Big Nugget can be found. Head south to enter Olivine City!

As you are entering town, your Rival will talk to you as he's leaving the Gym. He'll tell you that the gym leader is apparently taking care of a sick Pokémon at the lighthouse, hinting us where our next objective is. Following the path in front of the Pokémart and then north, you'll find a trainer who will trade you a Voltorb holding a Cheri Berry for a Krabby. In front of the Pokémart is an NPC who can teach your Pokémon Metronome. Head to the Pokécenter towards the center of town to heal up.

From the Pokécenter, head to the buidling directly north to talk to a fisherman who will give you the Good Rod.

The building next door to the Pokécenter is the Olivine Cafe, speak to a sailor in here to be gifted HM04 (Strength). Prepare yourself for a gauntlet of trainers and head to the lighthouse on the southeast edge of town!

The first floor has a couple NPCs you can talk to. On the second floor you will battle Gentleman Alfred who has a Lv 22 Noctowl, and then Sailor Huey who has a Lv 20 Poliwhirl and a Lv 22 Machop. On the third floor you will battle Bird Keeper Theo who has a Lv 23 Murkrow, and then Gentleman Preston who has a Lv 22 Growlithe and a Lv 22 Vulpix. On the fourth floor you will battle Sailor Kent who has a Lv 23 Shellder and a Level 23 Chinchou, followed by Lass Connie who has a Lv 21 Ponyta and a Lv 22 Weepinbell. On the fifth floor Bird Keeper Denis who has a Lv 24 Pidgeotto and a Lv 24 Fearow. You'll also find a Rare Candy and a Hyper Potion on the floor. Drop down the hole to the north of the hyper potion to fall back down to the fourth floor, and then fall down the hole to the east of the sailor for a battle with Sailor Terrell who has a Lv 24 Poliwhirl. There is an Ether on the floor. Head up two sets of stairs to battle Sailor Ernest who has a Lv 22 Machop, a Lv 24 Poliwhirl, and a Lv 24 Quagsire. You'll also find TM34 (Shock Wave) on the ground. Take the final set of stairs to end up at the summit of the lighthouse where Leader Jasmine asks you to get some medicine from the pharmacy in Cianwood. You'll also find a Protein on the ground. Heal up and head west towards Route 40!

Another member of the Weekday Family, Monica, is standing by the fence on the beach, answer her question with "Monday" to be given a Sharp Beak. There is a gate just west of Monica that leads to Trainer Hill.You can press that link to check out the section that explains what is going on there. Just know that you won't have access to everything inside until a later point in the game. For now, it is worth noting that there is a Move Tutor inside the gate which can teach your Pokémon Substitute. Starting on the eastern edge of the beach, surf to start a battle with Swimmer Paula who has a Lv 25 Staryu and a Lv 26 Shellder. To the east is Swimmer Simon who has two Lv 25 Tentacools. Swimming south is Swimmer Elaine who has a Lv 25 Starmie. Just south, you'll battle Swimmer Randall who has a Lv 25 Shellder and a Lv 25 Wartortle. Continue south to reach Route 41.

This is a large route with multiple islands currently inaccessible without Whirlpool. We'll start by heading east at the first fork where you will battle Swimmer Charlie who has a Lv 26 Cloyster and a Lv 26 Tentacruel. Just south of Charlie, facing a shoreline, is Swimmer Kara who has a Lv 25 Horsea and a Lv 26 Starmie. Continuing south, you'll battle Swimmer Kirk who has two Lv 24 Gyarados. Continue south between the beach and the rocks to the east to battle Swimmer Wendy who has a Lv 26 Horsea and a Lv 27 Seadra. Continue all the way south and then head east to battle Swimmer George who has a Lv 26 Tentacool, a Lv 26 Remoraid, and a Lv 26 Staryu. Head all the way east, and then north to battle Swimmer Susie who has a Lv 27 Psyduck and a Lv 26 Seaking. Continue north (while hugging the rocks to the west) to find Swimmer Kaylee who has a Lv 24 Seaking, a Lv 24 Lanturn, and a Lv 24 Quagsire. Continue north as far as you can before heading west to battle Swimmer Berke who has a Lv 27 Quilfish. Surf west past the entrance to the route, as well as the first swimmer on the route, to battle Swimmer Denise who has a Lv 27 Lapras. Continue west as far as you can, then head south until you reach the beach of Cianwood City. Heal up at the Pokécenter and then surf west off the southwest corner of Cianwood to battle Swimmer Mathew who has a Lv 26 Krabby and a Lv 26 Quilfish. That's all the trainers, let's head back to Cianwood.

Cianwood City is another small town. In the house next door to the Pokécenter, and NPC tells you that your Rival scared him into giving away his prized Pokémon and asks you to look after his other one. Say yes to acquire Shuckie, a Lv 20 Shuckle holding a Berry Juice.

Directly south of the house where you acquire Shuckle is the Cianwood City Pharmacy. Talk to the pharmacist to get the Secret Potion. We will take this back to the lighthouse to heal Amphy. But first, let's finish up things in Cianwood.

Heading to the northern part of the island will lead to Suicune. It will run away as you approach and Mystery Man Eusine will appear and challenge you to a battle to earn Suicune's respect. Eusine has a Lv 27 Politoed, a Lv 27 Hypno, and a Lv 27 Electrode. Ignore the cave to the east for now and heal up, it's time to take on the Cianwood gym!

You'll see boulders blocking the path to Chuck as you enter the gym. Head to the west stairs to battle Black Belt Yoshi who has a Lv 29 Hitmonlee, move the boulder one space to the east. Heading up the east stairs starts a battle with Black Belt Lao who has a Lv 29 Hitmonchan. Continuing on will lead to a battle with Black Belt Lung who has a Lv 27 Mankey, a Lv 27 Machoke, and a Lv 29 Primeape. Push the boulder as far west as you can and then continue to battle Black Belt Nob who has a Lv 27 Machop, and a Lv 27 Machoke. Push one more boulder to reach Leader Chuck who has a Lv 30 Hitmontop, a Lv 29 Primeape, a Lv 30 Sudowoodo, and a Lv 31 Poliwrath holding a Black Belt. You'll be rewarded the Stormbadge which makes all Pokémon up to Lv 70 obey and also allows you to use Fly outside of battle. You'll also be given TM01 (Focus Punch). As you exit the gym, Chuck's wife will give you HM02 (Fly). Now it will be much easier to travel to places previously visited! Let's use it now to return to Olivine and get that medicine to the lighthouse.

Head back to the top floor and Jasmine will administer the Secret Potion to Amphy, who will get better. We can now take on the Olivine Gym! However, as you leave the lighthouse you'll get a call from Warden Baoba alerting you that the Safari Zone has opened! Let's fly back to Cianwood and check that out before taking Jasmine on.

Head into the cave on the west side of Cianwood, the path will lead you to Route 47. Your first battle will be with Hiker Devin who has two Lv 26 Dunsparce and a Lv 27 Dudunsparce. Head west across the bridge to battle Camper Grant who has a Lv 26 Skiploom and a Lv 26 Marill. On the ground you'll find a Revive. Head into the cave and take the ladder that goes up, once you exit, you'll have a battle with Young Couple Thom & Kae who has a Lv 26 Electabuzz and a Lv 26 Magmar. Continue across a couple of bridges, you'll find a White Flute on the ground. Up ahead is Young Couple Duff & Eda who has a Lv 26 Onix and a Lv 26 Cloyster. Just north is a berry tree which yields 5 Sitrus Berries. Continue on to reach Route 48.

Nothing on this route aside from some new encounters. Continue north to reach the Safari Gate.

As you enter the Safari Gate, you'll notice an NPC to the west who sells Blue Incense and Lax Incense. These items are important for breeding certain baby Pokémon. The merchant on the east side of camp sells vitamins. Head north towards the Safari Zone.

As you enter the building, Baoba will tell you that 2 out of the 6 possible Safari Zones are currently open and will give you the PokeBlock Case. You'll see multiple NPCs around Berry Blending machines which can be used to create PokeBlocks. Pokéblocks are colorful candy blocks made for Pokémon and are primarily used to increase a Pokémon's condition for Pokémon Contests. There are two Pokémon, Feebas and Roselia, who will only evolve after their Beauty is increased to a specific level. The Safari Zone will cost ₽500 to enter, you'll be given 30 safari balls to catch Pokémon. We will get more phone calls from Baoba when the other portions of the Safari Zone open up. Once you're finished here, fly back to Olivine and make sure you are healed up, it's finally time to take on Jasmine!

We already battled the gym trainers in the lighthouse, so the only battle will be with Leader Jasmine who has a Lv 35 Skarmory, a Lv 36 Scizor holding a Focus Band, a Lv 35 Magneton, a Lv 36 Steelix holding a Quick Claw, and a Lv 35 Corsola. You'll be awarded the Mineralbadge which raises your Pokémon's special defense. You'll also be given TM23 (Iron Tail). Our next objective will be to backtrack and collect a multitude of items previously locked behind different HMs.

You'll find TM12 (Taunt) behind a boulder in the basement.

On Route 35, surf across the pond to find berry tree which yields 5 Persim Berries. You'll also find a Big Nugget up ahead on the ground.

Surfing on the west side of the route will lead to a Rare Candy on the ground. Surf further south to have a battle with Cool Trainers Jenn & Irene who have a Lv 24 Staryu, a Lv 22 Goldeen, a Lv 26 Starmie, and a Lv 24 Seaking. Next up will be Cool Trainer Kate who has a Lv 26 Shellder and a Lv 28 Cloyster. You'll find Soft Sand on the ground.

Move the boulder on the west side of the well, you'll find a Super Potion on the ground. Surf and then grab the Full Heal on the ground before taking the ladder down. Speaking to the Slowking down here will give you TM18 (Rain Dance), you'll also find a King's Rock on the ground.

Enter Union Cave from the south (Azalea) and head up and around the first bend, and then surfing across a small patch of water to the south and take the ladder down. You'll battle Pokemaniac Andrew who has two Lv 24 Marowak, surf across the water to battle Pokemaniac Calvin who has a Lv 26 Kangaskhan. Head down the ladder and surf west to find an Ether on the ground. Surf south and towards the west to battle Cooltrainer Nick who has a Lv 26 Charmander, a Lv 26 Bulbasaur, and a Lv 26 Squirtle, there is a Hyper Potion on the ground next to him. Head south to battle Cooltrainer Emma who has a Lv 28 Poliwhirl. Continuing south and then surfing to the east will lead to a stationary Lv 20 Lapras. Head back up to the water to the north, and then surf south to find Cooltrainer Gwen who has a Lv 26 Eevee, a Lv 23 Flareon, a Lv 24 Vaporeon, and a Lv 25 Jolteon, you'll find a Max Revive on the ground next to her. Head back up to the main floor of Union Cave.

Once back on the main floor, surf across the water and take the ladder to the north. Surf across the water and move the boulder to find TM43 (Secret Power) on the ground. To the west is Hiker Phillip who has two Lv 23 Geodudes, and a Lv 23 Graveler. To the south is Hiker Leonard who has a Lv 23 Geodude and a Lv 25 Machop. Move the boulder and take the southern exit out to battle Psychic Nathan who has a Lv 26 Girafarig. Jump down the first ledge and enter the ruin to the south to find the Omanyte Puzzle. Solving this will cause you to fall into the main Ruin of Alph, you'll find the Helix Fossil on the ground. Resurrect the Lv 20 Omanyte, put it at the head of your party, and interact with the sensor at the back of the Omanyte Puzzle room to reach the hidden room, you'll find a Lum Berry, Water Stone, Star Piece, and a Stardust. Fall down the hole to the north to see this message spelled out with Unown characters: "They possess great insight and refuse the outside world." Drop down the hole to end up in the main Ruin of Alph once again.

Head out of the main ruin and surf across the water to the south where you will find the Aerodactyl Puzzle room. Solving the puzzle will drop you into the main ruin once again, you'll find the Old Amber on the ground. Resurrect the Lv 20 Aerodactyl and take it back to the puzzle room to open up the back room where you will find a Sitrus Berry, Moon Stone, Energy Root, and a Heal Powder. Fall down the hold to the north to see this message: "Thus we shall erect a Pokémon statue outside." Drop down the hole to end up in the main Ruin of Alph once more.

Head back to Union cave and take the exit opposite of the one which led to the Omanyte Puzzle. You'll battle Super Nerd Stan who has a Lv 20 Grimer. The ruin ahead contains the Ho-oh Puzzle. Complete this one to drop into the main ruin and grab the GS Ball! It is important to note that the GS Ball can be used as a Pokeball (second only to the Master Ball in catch chance), however, it is also a necessary item to possess in order to trigger a legendary encounter. We will do that soon, so be sure not to use the GS Ball before then! While we can't unlock the back room quite yet, eventually you can bring Ho-oh here and grab a Max Revive, Sacred Ash, Charcoal, and a Lum Berry. Drop down the hole to see the final message: "We Unowns must learn to walk in harmony with them. We depart for their sakes."

Head to Violet City and surf the western pond to find a Hyper Potion on the ground.

Fly to Cherrygrove and surf on the water to the west to speak to a fisherman who will give you a Mystic Water.

Fly to New Bark Town and surf on the water to the east. Enter the cave opening to Tohjo Falls and surf west to find a Heart Scale.

Fly to Azalea Town and talk to Kurt who will check out the GS Ball. As he does this, we'll hear a sound from the forest and head outside. Kurt will ask you to investigate. Heal up and be sure to stock up on Pokeballs, it's time to snag our first legendary Pokémon! Head into Ilex Forest, cut down the tree, and interact with the shrine to start an encounter with a Lv 40 Celebi. If you miss catching it, don't worry, it will respawn as we get further along into the game.

Fly to Ecruteak and head east through the gate to arrive at Route 42. You'll see a Super Potion on the ground. Ignore the cave entrance for now and surf east. You'll find an Ultra Ball on the ground to the north. Talk to Fisherman Tully to start a battle, he has a Lv 24 Quilfish. Cut the tree below to have a short cutscene with Suicune and Eusine, you'll find a berry tree which yields 5 Chesto Berries where Suicune just was. Continue surfing east, picking up the Modest Mint on the ground, and arrive on the other shore to battle Pokemaniac Shane who has a Lv 24 Nidorino and a Lv 24 Nidoking. Up ahead is Hiker Benjamin who has a Lv 24 Graveler and a Lv 24 Dugtrio. You can continue heading east to arrive at Mahogany Town to heal up, and then head back to Route 42 and enter the eastern entrance to Mt. Mortar.

When you enter the cave, progress northwards until you see an opening. Enter to head deeper in the mountain. Then, take the stairs ahead to battle Pokemaniac Miller who has a Lv 20 Nidoking and a Lv 20 Nidoqueen. Take the ladder up behind Miller to find an Elixer on the ground and then head back down. Then, head West until you reach the other side of the cave, where you'll find a second ladder. Go up and find a Revive, then head back down. Start heading back East until you see a boulder. Push it and head North until you come to the first split in the path. Head West first and you'll find a Revive, before returning to the crossroads and now heading North again. You find another stairway ahead, climb and find a Nugget on the cliff before returning to the main dirt path again. Continue east at the fork in the path to find an Escape Rope and then jump down two ledges, hugging the eastern wall to eventually find a King's Rock to the south. Turn north again until you see a cliff with stairs to battle Super Nerd Markus, he has a Lv 19 Slowpoke. Turn around again and jump down the visible ledge, retracing your footsteps to the fork in the path again, this time heading north, where you’ll also find an Ultra Ball on the ground. Continue north up the stairs, progressing to the northern stairs down at the next fork before heading south at another fork to find a Max Repel on the ground. From here, return to the previous fork and continue west and then south, ignoring the ladder going down for now, and jump the ledge. Progress on the path here to find a Max Potion on a cliff ahead and then navigate around to begin north again, before taking the upward ladder just North. Be wary, the wild Pokémon on this floor are higher leveled than on the lower levels. Head east until; you reach a fork, heading south to find an Ether on the ground, before returning and continuing on path to until another fork. Here turn south to find an Iron on a cliff. Return to the fork and continue on to find a Max Revive on another cliff. Surf across the water and continue until you reach another fork. Turn south first to find a Rare Candy on yet another cliff. Return to the fork and surf across the next pond and follow the path east, you'll reach another pond to surf across. Stop here to ascend the stairs and find a Dragon Scale on a cliff. Surf again to the south, ignore the exit, and go north up the stairs to battle Super Nerd Hugh who has a Lv 39 Seadra. Now go West and surf across the final pond to find an Elixer on the ground in the southwest corner of the map. Head all the way back to the northwest corner of the map and take the ladder back to the previous floor, and then follow the path east, west at the fork, and around to take the ladder down that we had previously skipped. To the east is the Karate King Black Belt Kiyo who has a Lv 34 Hitmonlee and a Lv 34 Hitmonchan. He will give you a Lv 20 Tyrogue for beating him. Move the boulder to the south and surf east to find a Hyper Potion on the ground. surfing south will lead to a Carbos on a cliff. Continue surfing south to find a Max Ether on a cliff. Surf back to where the boulder is, this time surfing south at the fork, to reach a Max Revive on the ground. Surf south, exit onto the west bank, and then follow the path to find a PP Up. Head back to the water, surf across, and then jump down the ledge and take the ladder up, and then head south to exit Mt. Mortar. Time to head back to Mahogany Town!

Welcome to Mahogany Town! The gym is currently blocked off, and Grandma's Shop is also currently shut down. When trying to exit town to the east, an NPC will block your path and try to sell you Ragecandybars. There's nothing else to do here for now, so head towards the gate to the north which leads to Route 43.

Head north to have a battle with Camper Spencer who has a Lv 25 Sandslash and a Lv 25 Golbat. If you attempt to go through the gate up ahead, a Rocket Grunt will extort ₽500 from you to go through. Instead, head into the grass, up ahead you'll battle Picnicker Tiffany who has a Lv 34 Clefable and a Lv 34 Wigglytuff. Surf across the water to find two berry trees which yield 5 Leppa Berries. Note: This is the only place to acquire an infinite amount of a PP restoring item, so be sure to remember where this tree is. On the ground is a Max Ether. Surf east back across the water and head north through the grass to battle Pokemaniac Ben who has a Lv 26 Slowbro and a Lv 26 Wartortle. Head south and then east to reach the other side of the Rocket gate, and then head north to battle Pokemaniac Ron who has a Lv 26 Nidoking and a Lv 26 Charmeleon. Next, you'll battle Pokemaniac Brent who has a Lv 26 Lickitung and a Lv 26 Ivysaur. Head back to the water and surf north to battle Fisherman Marvin who has two Lv 25 Gyarados. Take path the east of the water in front of Marvin and head north to reach the Lake of Rage.

Talk to Fisherman Andre to battle, he has a Lv 27 Gyarados. Follow the path on the eastern shore of the lake to find another member of the Weekday Family Wesley, answer his question with "Wednesday" to be awarded a Black Belt. Just north, you'll find a Red Flute on the ground. Surf onto the lake to battle a Lv 30 Shiny Gyarados, you'll receive a Red Scale afterwards. Return to the shore and talk to the NPC with a Dragonite who will introduce himself as Lance. He will ask you to help with an investigation, agree, and he will head back towards Mahogany. Before heading there to help, surf through the small channel heading west on the south side of the Lake. You'll battle Cooltrainer Lois who has a Lv 28 Skiploom and a Lv 27 Ninetales. Note: Lois will only appear if you have already battled the Shiny Gyarados. To the west is Fisherman Raymond who has a Lv 28 Vaporeon. Surf back into the channel, this time heading north around a bend, head east at the branch, and then take the middle branch which will eventually lead to a house. The NPC inside will give you TM10 (Hidden Power), just east of the house you'll find a Full Restore. Surf back to the three-way branch, this time taking the east path, and then heading north to battle Cooltrainer Aaron who has a Lv 27 Ivysaur, a Lv 27 Charmeleon, and a Lv 27 Wartortle. You'll find a Max Revive on the ground. That's it for now at the Lake of Rage, so fly back to Mahogany, heal up, and head into Grandma's Shop.

As you enter Grandma's Shop, you'll see Lance's Dragonite Hyper Beam a Rocket Grunt (are we the baddies?). Follow Lance down into the basement. As you walk in front of the statue, you'll be ambushed by two Rocket Grunts, the first has a Lv 26 Drowzee and a Lv 26 Gligar, the second has a Lv 27 Golbat, a Lv 27 Ariados, and a Lv 27 Raticate. These two grunts will conitnue to ambush you as you pass statues unless you flip a hidden switch. This is a good source for extra xp and money if needed. You'll find the switch by heading south at the first branch, south at the second branch, and then interacting with the vent on the wall. Continue south around the bend to battle Collector Jed who has a Lv 28 Magnemite and a Lv 28 Porygon. There is a Big Nugget on the ground. Head back around the bend into the wider hallway and follow the path east. You'll find a Hyper Potion on the ground. Follow that path towards the staircase in the southwestern corner, avoiding the grey teleportation tile, and head north onto the yellow square where you can have wild Pokémon encounters, and will find a Revive on the ground. Continue north to battle another Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 28 Kangaskhan. Head back south and take the stairs to the lower level. You'll meet up with Lance who heals your Pokémon before continuing on into the hideout. Head east to battle a Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 29 Golbat. By the staircase is another Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 26 Raticate, a Lv 26 Golbat, and a Lv 27 Grimer. Take the staircase down to meet up again with Lance, he will tell you that it takes two passwords to enter the boss's room, and that only Rocket Grunts would know the passwords. Head north into the mostly enclosed area to battle Collector Ross who has a Lv 28 Koffing and a Lv 28 Raichu. Just north is the first Rocket Grunt who knows a password, she has a Lv 28 Arbok and a Lv 28 Sneasle. Talk to her once more after the battle to get the first password. Head out of this area and to the southwestern enclosure to battle Collector Mitch who has a Lv 28 Electrode. Continue east to battle Rocket Grunt Eto who has a Lv 28 Jynx, a Lv 28 Magmar, a Lv 28 Poliwhirl, and a Lv 28 Electabuzz. Talk to him once more after the battle to get the second password. You'll find a Guard Spec and a Full Heal on the ground. Head out of this area and then go north to find an Ice Heal on the ground. Head east towards the staircase, hug the eastern wall and go south to find a Protein on the ground. Head back up and head upstairs. Head east along the northern hall to battle a Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 31 Venomoth. Head down the stairs here, and then take the staircase to the south up to find TM46 (Thief) on the ground. Head back down the stairs and around the corner to have a short cutscene with your Rival, and then grab the Hyper Potion on the ground. Use the passwords to open up the shutters to battle Rocket Admin Petrel who has a Lv 30 Pineco, a Lv 30 Magcargo, a Lv 30 Cloyster, and a Lv 30 Larvitar. Follow the Murkrow to back to the second floor of the hideout where it will mimic Petrel's voice to open up the final shutter. Attempting to go forward will lead to a double battle in which we team up with Lance against Rocket Admin Ariana & Rocket Grunt, they have a Lv 31 Arbok, two Lv 25 Golbats, a Lv 30 Arbok, a Lv 30 Vileplume, and a Lv 30 Persian. After this, Lance will tell you that we have to knock out the Electrodes connected to the machine, so either defeat or catch all three Lv 30 Electrodes. Lance will then give you HM08 (Whirlpool) and leave, we will do the same. Upstairs, the shop is now open and offers items you won't find anywhere else! Exit the shop and head north out of town to Route 43. Walk into the gate to the west that was previously guarded by Rocket Grunts. Speak to the guard in here to receive TM36 (Sludge Bomb). Fly back to Mahogany Town and get healed up, we are going to challenge the Mahogany Gym!

The gimmick in this gym is it's icy floors. To start, align yourself with the rock to the east and skate towards it. Skate north from here to battle Expert Donald who has a Lv 29 Dewgong and a Lv 30 Delibird. Skate west and then north to reach solid ground. At the end of this path, skate west and then north to battle Expert Douglas who has a Lv 28 Shellder, a Lv 28 Seel, and a Lv 30 Cloyster. Skate west from here to battle Expert Brad who has a Lv 30 Swinub and a Lv 30 Sneasel. Skate north into a rock, and then west to battle Expert Clarissa who has a Lv 31 Dewgong. Skate south into a rock, and then east to battle Expert Roxanne who has a Lv 30 Jynx. Skate north from here to arrive at Leader Pryce, he has a Lv 37 Cloyster, a Lv 37 Sneasel, a Lv 37 Jynx, a Lv 37 Dewgong, and a Lv 38 Mamoswine holding a Sitrus Berry. Upon victory you will be awarded the Glacierbadge which raises the special attack of your Pokémon and allows you to use Whirlpool outside of battle. You'll also be given TM07 (Hail). As you exit the gym, you'll receive a phone call from Prof. Elm informing you that the radio broadcasts are talking about Team Rocket, and asks if you know anything about it. Our next big objective will be to investigate the Radio Tower in Goldenrod. Note: As of V1.2.1, if you haven't yet made your way to Route 39 (west of Ecruteak), you must do so before taking on the events in Goldenrod. Failure to do so will result in a progression blocking bug. This will be fixed in the future!

Fly to Goldenrod and heal up at the Pokécenter if needed. We are about to face a gauntlet of Rockets. Head to east onto the main road and then go north. Take the first white path that goes west and enter the Radio Tower. A Rocket Grunt will be blocking the stairway on the northeast corner of this room, talk to him to start a battle, he has a three Lv 33 Raticates. Take the stairs to the second floor, hug the northern wall, and go east to battle a Rocket Grunt with a Lv 34 Gligar and a Lv 34 Hypno. Directly south will be another Rocket Grunt with a Lv 33 Weezing and a Lv 33 Muk. Continue west and then talk to the Rocket Grunt in front of the wall to the east of the stairs, he has a two Lv 34 Aipoms and a Lv 34 Koffing. Walk in front of this grunt to catch the eyes of another Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 35 Arbok and a Lv 35 Gloom. Ascend the stairs above to the third floor, and head east to battle another Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 34 Aipom, a Lv 34 Murkrow, and a Lv 34 Forretress. Talk to the NPC by the first table south of this Grunt to battle Collector Marc who has a Lv 37 Omastar. East of Marc is another Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 34 Muk and a Lv 34 Venomoth. Take the staircase east of the first Grunt we battled on this floor to the 4th floor. Head south into a table and then east to battle Collector Rich who has a Lv 40 Porygon. Continue east and talk to the Rocket Grunt to start a battle, he has a Lv 35 Exeggutor, a Lv 35 Electabuzz, and a Lv 35 Electrode. Head north until you hit a plant, and then east to battle another Rocket Grunt, she has a Lv 36 Arbok, a Lv 35 Gloom, a Lv 36 Ariados, and a Lv 36 Vileplume. Ascend the staircase in the northeast corner to reach the final floor. Talk to the "director" to reveal he is actually Rocket Admin Petrel in disguise, he has a Lv 38 Forretress, a Lv 39 Magcargo, a Lv 38 Cloyster, and a Lv 38 Pupitar. Upon victory, Petrel will inform you that the Rockets have stashed the real director in the Goldenrod Underground and will give you the Basement Key. Head all the way back downstairs and make a pit stop at the Pokécenter.

The entrance to the Underground is the building to the west as you exit the Pokécenter, you get there by heading north onto the main road and taking the first path east and following that around a bend until you reach the only building on this road not blocked by Rocket Grunts. Head inside and take the staircase down into the Underground. Head north until the path branches, take the eastern path, and you'll meet another Kimono Girl. Interact with the door to the north to use the Basement Key to open it up, and enter. As you try to head west, your Rival will stop you for another battle, his possible teams are:

After the battle with your Rival, we will work ourselves toward the western wall, battling three Grunts along the way. The first Rocket Grunt has a Lv 36 Golbat and a Lv 37 Muk. The next Rocket Grunt has a Lv 36 Golbat and a Lv 37 Arbok. The final Rocket Grunt has a Lv 36 Golbat and a Lv 37 Weezing. After battling this last grunt, interact with the switch north of him. This opens the shutter directly to the south. Head through the now-opened path and battle Burglar Duncan, he has a Lv 35 Delibird and a Lv 35 Magmar. Head south to have another battle, this time with Burglar Eddie who has a Lv 35 Arcanine and a Lv 35 Weezing. You'll find a Smoke Ball on the ground. Head back up to the northern path, this time hitting the switch behind the second Grunt. This opens the shutter directly south, head through the opening to find a Max Revive. Head back to the northern path one more time and hit the switch behind the first Grunt, this opens two shutters. Head south from the center switch towards the bottom of the room and then go east, collecting the Max Potion on the ground. Just past this item you'll see a staircase guarded by a Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 35 Vileplume, a Lv 35 Arbok, a Lv 36 Murkrow, and a Lv 35 Pinsir. Take the staircase down to the next level. Head north to find an Ultra Ball on the northwest corner. From there, head east, south, and then hug the wall as you turn east to run into a Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 37 Weezing. Directly south across the hallway is another Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 35 Weezing, a Lv 35 Hypno, and a Lv 37 Gligar. Continue east until you hit the eastern wall to find a Max Ether on the ground. Continue on, ignore the stairs in the northeast corner, and head west then south to battle Rocket Eto, he has a Lv 36 Poliwrath, a Lv 36 Magmar, a Lv 36 Jynx, a Lv 36 Electabuzz, and a Lv 36 Rhydon. You'll see the real director just below Eto, talk to him to receive the Card Key, which can be used to open the shutters on the third floor of the Radio Tower. Grab the TM04 (Calm Mind) on the ground and head back to the northeast corner of the room and ascend the staircase. You'll find yourself in the lower level of the Goldenrod Dept Store. Grab the Amulet Coin west of the staircase and then head south and speak to the NPC to get his Machoke to move the boulder out of your way. Take the elevator up to floor 1, exit the Dept. Store, head to the Pokécenter to heal up, and then make your way back to the Radio Tower.

Head up to the third floor of the Radio Tower and walk towards the eastern part of this room. Interact with the shutter to use the Card Key to open it, and then head north to battle a Rocket Grunt who has a Lv 35 Tauros and a Lv 35 Slowpoke. Ascend the staircase to the east, and then continue east to battle Rocket Admin Proton who has a Lv 36 Muk, a Lv 36 Weezing, a Lv 37 Nidoqueen, a Lv 37 Nidoking, and a Lv 38 Rhydon. Ascend the staircase to the east to arrive at the final floor. Once more, we will battle Rocket Admin Ariana, she has a Lv 39 Arbok, a Lv 39 Vileplume, a Lv 40 Murkrow, a Lv 40 Gyarados, and a Lv 40 Persian. Just south we will battle the leader of this branch of Team Rocket Rocket Admin Archer. He has a Lv 39 Porygon-Z, a Lv 38 Houndoom, a Lv 39 Gyarados, a Lv 38 Tauros, and a Lv 40 Slowbro. Our victory leads to Archer disbanding Team Rocket once again! The director will return to the room and give you either the Rainbow Wing or the SIlver Wing, depending on what color you told Baoba the bird was earlier on. If you've been following this walkthrough up to this point, you will get the Rainbow Wing. He will tell you the wing is supposedly connected to a legendary Pokémon, and that another item is apparently needed to summon that Pokémon. Take the staircase down and talk to Mary on the next floor, she will give you Brightpowder. Descend down the western staircase, exit the enclosure towards the main room, and talk to the female NPC sitting at a table to the south to be given TM48 Skill Swap. That is it for the events in Goldenrod! Heal up and Fly towards Mahogany Town and then head east out of town to reach Route 44.

Route 44 is pretty straightforward, the main path encircles the entire route, with the exit being towards the southeast corner. To start, head east into the route and then take the southern path. Just before a bridge is Bird Keeper Vance who has a Lv 36 Pidgeot, a Lv 37 Skarmory, a Lv 36 Murkrow, and a Lv 36 Xatu. Continue east onto a bridge where you can battle Fisherman Edgar, he has a Lv 38 Octillery, a Lv 36 Seaking, and a Lv 36 Gyarados. Continuing east will least to Cooltrainer Cybil who has a Lv 40 Butterfree, a Lv 37 Bellossom, and a Lv 38 Quagsire. Rather than following the road to the staircase, take the path heading north between trees, and then head east through a small gap through the trees into some grass bordering water, you'll find an Elixer on the ground. Head back east to the northbound path between trees and continue north, this leads to Pokemaniac Zach who has a Lv 40 Rhydon, a Lv 38 Heracross, and a Lv 37 Pupitar. Heading west, you'll see Fisherman Wilton by the water, he has a Lv 38 Quilfish, a Lv 36 Octillery, and a Lv 36 Seaking. Continue west to find an Ultra Ball on the ground. Just below that Ultra Ball is Psychic Phil who has a Lv 36 Xatu, a Lv 36 Girafarig, and a Lv 36 Kadabra. South of Phil is a berry tree which yields 5 Aspear Berries. You'll find yourself at the beginning of the route, take the southern path east to that staircase we previously ignored and head up the stairs to battle Cooltrainer Allen who has a Lv 35 Charmeleon and a Lv 37 Electabuzz. You'll find a Max Repel on the ground in the southeast corner. From there, head north into the cave opening to reach the Ice Path.

As the name suggests, we will have some ice patches to navigate as we progress through this cave. Head east onto some ice, go south, east, south, and then east to get past the first patch of ice. Following the path will lead to a much larger ice patch. Skate north, west, north, east, south, west, south, west, north, east, south, west, north, west, south, east, south, and finally east to get past this ice. Head east towards a smaller ice patch and skate east, north, west, south, and then east to find HM07 (Waterfall). Jump the small ledge and head east to descend down a ladder. Descend the ladder on the southwest corner of the next room. Take one step east, and then skate north to find a Full Heal on solid ground and then skate east to find a Carbos on some more solid ground. Skate south, and then west to arrive where we started in this room and ascend the ladder back up. Ignoring the ladder, you'll see some ice to the north which has cracks in it. To traverse across these cracks, we will need to use the speed setting on our bike. To shift gears into speed mode, you'll mount your bike and press R while stationary. The bike needs at least two steps to get up to speed, and any patch of normal ice you hit will slow you down enough to fall through the cracks in the ice. Align yourself at least two steps south from any of the three cracks, mount your bike, press R once, and head north across the ice. Align yourself with the center crack to the east, ensuring you are two steps away, and bike east across the ice and into a rock 3 steps onto solid ground. This next part can be a tad bit tricky, you'll need to be prepared to head east as soon as you hit solid ground, otherwise you will cause the ice below to break and will have to start from square one. The picture included shows what is going on below, and where you need to head east. Once you've successfully navigated that patch of ice, continue east into the wall, south into a rock, and then bike west across the final patch of ice on this floor. From here, head north and drop into the hole in the ground. Grab the Max Potion on the ground before descending the ladder. On the next floor, head east and use Rock Smash to break the rock south to find a Nevermeltice. Hop the ledge to the east and head north to ascend a ladder. On the next floor, you'll head east and skate south across a tiny patch of ice. Before jumping the ledge onto the larger patch of ice, align yourself with the staircase, then head south. You'll see a Delibird to the east, skate towards it and give it an Aspear Berry to receive TM14 (Blizzard). Skate west across the ice and ascend the ladder. To the east, you'll find an Iron. Skate south into a rock, east onto solid ground, and walk down to the spot two spaces from away from the southern wall. Skate west into a rock, south, and then west to reach solid ground. Skate south, west, and then south once more to reach a Revive. Skate east, north, and then east to the patch of solid ground before the larger patch of ice. From here, skate east, north, then east to reach the ground on the eastern wall. Walk down two steps, skate west, north, and then west once more to reach solid ground, before ascending the ladder to the north. On the next floor you will find a PP Up on a cliff to the north. Align yourself with the rock on the ice and skate south, west, south, and then east to end up behind a Kimono Girl. Talk to here and respond with "Yes" to push her off the ice. Skate back north, east, south, west, north, east, south, east, and then south to find a Protein. Skate north, east, north, west, south, east, and then south to arrive back on solid ground. The exit is south from here!

Welcome to Blackthorn City! As you exit the ice path, the first house to the west has an NPC who will trade you a Mr. Mime holding a Smoke Ball for a Dodrio. Head west from this house to the edge of the ledge to the north, head north, and then east to find a chubby NPC in front of a large boulder. This is Santos, another member of the Weekday Family, answer his question with "Saturday" to receive a Spell Tag. Head south until you find yourself in front of the Pokécenter, then head west towards a sign that reads "MOVE BROS HOUSE". Enter the house to find the Move Deleter and the Move Tutor. The Deleter is obsolete in H&S due to HM moves being forgettable. The Move Tutor will teach a Pokémon any moves it could have already learned in exchange for a Heart Scale. Oftentimes, there are moves a Pokémon learns at Lv 1 that we never see due to them being overwritten by moves learned while leveling up, so be sure and check to see if there are any hidden surprises in the learnset of whatever Pokémon you are using in your party. You can also refer to the Pokedex to see a Pokémon's learnset, which is the list of moves that the Move Tutor pulls from. A bridge to the south leads to Route 45 if you require extra training or want to catch new Pokémon. But for now, let's head north to take on our final gym in Johto, the Blackthorn City Gym!

As you enter the gym, you'll notice what looks like 3 blue/gray rocks hanging over a lava pit. As you approach these, a bridge will appear. Hug the east side of the bridge and head north to battle Cool Trainer Fran who has a Lv 41 Seadra, a Lv 41 Dragonaire, and a Lv 41 Gyarados. To the west is Dragon Tamer Cody who has a Lv 42 Seadra, a Lv 41 Dragonaire, a Lv 42 Dragonaire, and a Lv 43 Golduck. Continue north and east across the next bridge, and then head north to battle Dragon Tamer Paul who has a Lv 34 Dratini and three Lv 40 Dragonaires. Head north and then west across another bridge, then continue along the path. The western trainer is Dragon Tamer Mike who has a Lv 42 Gyarados, a Lv 42 Vaporeon, and a Lv 43 Dragonaire. The trainer just east is Cool Trainer Lola who has a Lv 41 Dragonaire, a Lv 42 Mantine, a Lv 41 Lanturn, and a Lv 42 Dragonaire. Head north across the bridge to reach Leader Claire, she has a Lv 42 Dragonaire, a Lv 43 Gyarados, a Lv 44 Dudunsparce, a Lv 43 Lapras, and a Lv 45 Kingdra holding Leftovers. Rather than handing over her badge, Claire will insist that you must take the dragon user challenge in the Dragon's Den to the north of the gym. Heal up if necessary and then surf north to enter the Den.

Descend the ladder down and then exit south to reach the Den. Head south to battle Dragon Tamer Darin who has four Lv 42 Dragonaires. Surf south, and then west under the whirlpool, through a channel between two rocks, and disembark onto land to the north. Just ahead is Cool Trainer Cara who has a Lv 40 Seadra, a Lv 41 Seadra, and a Lv 42 Gyarados. Surf south from here and disembark on the land to the west to battle Twins Lea & Pia, they have two Lv 41 Dragonaires, and two Lv 42 Gyarados. Just south of the twins is a Max Potion. Surf east and then south through a whirlpool, continuing south for a short distance before heading east and then north. You'll disembark onto a boardwalk and head into the building. Once inside, the Dragon Elder will ask you a few questions. If answered correctly, you'll be awarded a very special Pokémon soon after. The correct answers are: Friend, Training, Anybody, Love, and Both. Claire will enter the house and ask how things went, after being admonished by the Elder, she will finally hand over the Risingbadge. This badge enables you to use Waterfall outside of battle and causes all Pokémon to obey you, regardless of level. Exit the house and surf east. On the first patch of land, you'll find a PP Max. Surf north from here to arrive at another patch of land where you will find a Dragon Fang. Surf south, west, and north back through the whirlpool we previously traversed and then surf northwest until you arrive at the beginning of the Den. Here, Claire will give you TM02 (Dragon Claw), and tell you to head back towards New Bark Town in order to reach the league. Before leaving the Den, surf back to the house and speak to the Elder once more to be given a Shiny Lv 15 Dratini which knows Extremespeed, assuming you answered the questions correctly. Surf back to the entrance and head back up to Blackthorn City. As you exit the Den, you will receive a phone call from Elm asking you to see him at his lab. Rather than flying straight there, heal up, and then head south across a bridge out of Blackthorn towards Route 45.

First, we are going to revisit the Dark Cave via an entrance at the top of Route 45. Head south and then west across a bridge, you'll see the entrance to Dark Cave to the north. Head inside the cave and use Flash to illuminate your surroundings. Begin by heading west and then south to reach some water. Begin surfing south while hugging the wall to the west, surf west as soon as you can, and then surf north onto the first bank of solid ground. Continue north up a set of stairs and head west around a corner. Continue west, ignoring the path to the south, until you find an NPC just north of another set of stairs. Talking to him will grant you some Blackglasses. Head back east, ignoring the path to the south once again, and then go south to the water we previously surfed. Surf and then disembark onto the bank to the south, heading south between two pairs of large boulders, and then head east across the southern face of the eastern pair. You'll see some stairs leading up to a cliff to the north where you will find a Star Piece. Head back down the stairs and the go west until you find a Black Flute just east of a ledge. Head back east past the cliff where we found the Star Piece and then surf north across the water. Disembark to the north to find yourself where we entered the cave, continue north and then east to exit back onto Route 45.

After exiting Dark Cave, head west and then south to battle Hiker Erik who has a Lv 37 Machoke, a Lv 37 Kangaskhan, and a Lv 38 Golem. Head back north, east across a bridge, and then south into some grass to battle Cool Trainer Kelly. She has a Lv 37 Togetic, a Lv 37 Tangela, a Lv 37 Ampharos, and a Lv 38 Blastoise. Jump the ledge to the south and then head west to find a Full Heal. Head east through some grass, down some stairs, and then jump a ledge to battle Cool Trainer Ryan. He has a Lv 37 Pidgeot, a Lv 37 Magmar, and a Lv 37 Electabuzz. Jump the ledge to the south to find a Nugget. Go west into some grass to battle Hiker Michael who has a Lv 38 Rhyhorn, a Lv 38 Donphan, and a Lv 38 Golem. Jump down another ledge to the south and continue south into some grass to battle Black Belt Kenji. He has a Lv 33 Onix, a Lv 33 Steelix, a Lv 38 Machamp, and a Lv 36 Hitmonlee. Hug the eastern wall and head south, hopping another ledge, to battle Hiker Timothy. He has two Lv 38 Dugtrios, a Lv 39 Gligar, and a Lv 38 Graveler. Just south you'll find an Elixer. Head west and then north around the Cliff Timothy was standing up against to battle Hiker Parry who has a Lv 45 Piloswine, a Lv 45 Dugtrio, and a Lv 48 Steelix. Head north, west across a bridge, and the north through some grass to find a Max Potion. Head south through two patches of grass and down some stairs to find Camper Quentin in some grass. He has a Lv 38 Fearow, a Lv 38 Primeape, a Lv 38 Raichu, and a Lv 38 Tauros. Head south and cross the first bridge you see to the east to find a berry tree which yields 5 Aspear Berries. Head back west across the bridge and continue west to reach Route 46.

As you enter Route 46, you'll see another cave opening leading to Dark Cave to the north. Enter, use Flash, and grab an Elixer just east of the opening. Use rock smash to break the rock to the north and then continue north, hugging the eastern wall, and up three sets of stairs until you can't go further north. Head west until you find a Revive. Head south down two sets of stairs and jump a ledge. Go south down one more set of stairs and then jump over a ledge to find a Max Revive. Jump down one more ledge and exit back out to Route 46 to the south.

Head west as you exit Dark Cave to find a berry tree which yields 5 Lum Berries. Head back east towards the entrance to Dark Cave and then jump the ledge to the south. Head west to battle Camper Ted who has a Lv 40 Ursaring, a Lv 40 Primeape, and a Lv 40 Nidoking. Just next to Ted is Picnicker Erin who has two Lv 40 Rapidash, a Lv 38 Nidoqueen, and a Lv 38 Raichu. Head east to hit the treeline and then south to find a Revive. Ignore the ledge to the south and head back east until you see a path going south. Take this path to battle Hiker Bailey who has five Lv 40 Golems. That's it for this route! You can jump the ledge to the south to reach the southern part of Route 46 accessible early in the game, and then head through the gate to end back on Route 29, just west of New Bark Town. Either take this route, or just Fly yourself to New Bark and head to Elm's Lab!

Talking to Elm inside his lab will result in you being gifted the Master Ball! He will also tell you that the Kimono Girls had been looking for you and that they invite you to meet them at the Ecruteak Dance Theater. We have one quick stop before heading to Ecruteak, so head outside and Fly to the Safari Zone Gate!

From the Safari Zone Gate, head south onto Route 48 and across a bridge, then east across another bridge. Head south onto Route 47 and down some stairs in front of a couple of NPCs. Continue south, west across a bridge, south, east across a bridge, north, east across another bridge, and then head into the cave opening to the north. Inside the cave, take the ladder down, then another ladder down on the next floor, and exit the cave to the south. Surf north up the channel just west of the cave exit, and use Waterfall to climb the waterfall. Surf north, and then disembark on the land to the east. You'll find a Pearl. The grass here is what I refer to as the Chansey Farm, and is a great place to level up your Pokémon if needed. Chansey has a 40% encounter rate in this grass, gives a high amount of exp, and also have a chance to be holding a Lucky Egg, an item that grants 50% more exp to a Pokémon holding it. Chansey have high HP and Special Defense, so be sure and bring a Pokémon who knows some physical moves if you plan to farm levels here! Once you're finished, Fly to Ecruteak City, it's time to see what the Kimono Girls want!

Be sure and heal up as you arrive in Ecruteak, and then head to the Dance Theater just north of the Pokécenter. As you try to enter the Dance Theater, your Rival will exit and lament being defeated by the Kimono Girls. You'll have a short conversation with a Kimono Girl before being asked if you're ready to be tested. Respond with yes to start the battles! First up is Kimono Girl Zuki who has a Lv 48 Umbreon. Next is Kimono Girl Naoko who has a Lv 48 Espeon. Following Naoko is Kimono Girl Miki who has a Lv 48 Flareon. Kimono Girl Sayo is up next, she has a Lv 48 Jolteon. Finally, you'll battle Kimono Girl Kuni who has a Lv 48 Vaporeon. Upon defeating all five Kimono Girls, you'll be gifted the either the Clear Bell (Ho-oh) or the Tidal Bell (Lugia).The building will then shake and an NPC will run in and say that they saw the shadow of a large Pokémon either over the Tin Tower (Ho-oh) or the Whirl Islands (Lugia). If you've been following the walkthrough to this point, we will be heading to the Tin Tower. If you chose silver earlier, skip to the section about Lugia here.

From the Pokécenter in Ecruteak, walk north, the entrance leading to the Tin Tower is the second building directly north of the Pokécenter. Enter the building, and talk to the eastermost Sage which will trigger your Clear Bell to ring, causing the Sage to let you through. In the next room, head north and then east out an exit. Rather than following the path, immediately head south, navigating around some trees, to find a Big Mushroom. Head back north to the grey path, and follow it east and slightly south to the entrance of the Tin Tower. Go north after entering the tower and ascend the ladder. In the next room, head south and ascend another ladder. In the next room you'll see 4 ramps surrounding the platform you are on. You can jump these as if they were ledges. Jump over the southwestern ramp to find a Full Heal. Jump back to the initial platform by taking the ramp to the northeast, and then continue straight and jump over one more ramp to reach the floor on the east side of the building. Head north, jump over two ramps going west, walk around the center pillar, and jump two more ramps to the west. Head north and then jump over 5 ramps heading east, and then ascend the ladder in the northeast corner of this room. In the next room, head south and jump over 5 ramps to find an Escape Rope by a ladder. Ignore the ladder and jump over six ramps heading west, you'll find an Ultra Ball by another ladder. Once again, ignore the ladder, walk north and jump over two ramps to a platform in the middle of the room, you'll find a Max Potion here. Jump two ramps on the northwest edge of this platform and ascend the ladder just north, On the next floor, head north and then jump 5 ramps heading east to reach a platform on the northeast corner of this room, you'll find a Carbos. From here, jump three ramps heading south, and then two ramps heading east to reach the middle platform where you will find a Rare Candy. On the southern edge of this platform, jump three ramps heading east, two ramps heading south, and descend the ladder. Jump six ramps heading west, walk north, jump two ramps heading east, walk north, then jump two ramps heading west and ascend the ladder to the north. This next portion can be tricky, so take your time. Walk north from the ladder, jump two ramps going east, one ramp going south, two ramps going west, five ramps heading south, two ramps heading east, then one more ramp heading south and ascend the ladder. On the next floor, head north towards the center of the room to find a Max Potion. Head east, north, west across the room, south, jump two ramps heading south, and ascend the ladder. Head north, then east, and walk onto the warp pad. You'll see another warp pad on the southwest corner of this platform that you will walk onto. Walk south and jump three ramps heading west to land on a platform with two warp pads. Walk onto the eastern one to arrive on a platform with a Max Elixer, use the warp pad to return to the previous spot. This time take the western warp pad and jump one ramp heading west to find a Big Nugget. Jump the ramp heading east and return to the previous spot via the warp pad. Walk one spot south, jump three ramps heading east, and then head north and walk onto the warp pad. On the platform you arrive on, walk onto the warp pad to the northeast. Walk up one step and hop two ramps heading east to find a Max Revive. Head south, jump four larger ramps, walk west and then onto the warp pad to the south. Walk south onto another warp pad, you'll find a Full Restore on this platform. Continue west onto the warp pad, north, and then east onto another warp pad. Finally, you'll ascend the ladder you see to the west which leads to the roof. After a short cutscene, Ho-oh will descend from the sky. Be sure and save before interacting with it! It will either be Lv 50 if you chose Gold, or Lv 70 if you chose Silver. If you catch it, return to the Ho-oh Puzzle Room with Ho-oh at the lead of your party to collect the items from the final hidden room. You can Fly from the the roof for a quick escape. It's time to head towards the Pokémon League!

Fly to New Bark Town and surf on the water to the east. After surfing east a short distance, disembark onto the land to the south, and then enter the entrance to Tohjo Falls to the north. Inside the cave, surf onto the water and climb the waterfall to the north. Surf east and then go down the waterfall to the south. Disembark onto the land to the east and take the exit out of the cave. Note: disembarking on the east bank will lead to a room with a dead radio. This is a location where you can trigger an optional battle, however, due to the level of the trainer's Pokémon, we will be revisiting this location later on. As you exit Tohjo Falls, you'll get a phone call from Warden Baoba telling you that the Safari Zone has expanded. Walk south to battle Cool Trainer Megan who has a Lv 44 Tangela, a Lv 44 Venusaur, a Lv 44 Victreebel, and a Lv 44 Bellossom. Enter the house just east of Megan and talk to the NPC, if your follower has max friendship she will give you TM37 (Sandstorm). Surf eastward and disembark onto a bank with grass and a trainer. That trainer is Cool Trainer Brian, he has a Lv 45 Sandslash, a Lv 45 Sneasel, a Lv 44 Scizor, and a Lv 43 Ursaring. Head north to find a Moon Stone in the grass. Head east and then surf south onto the water just before the boardwalk. You'll see some land with a trainer and an item, disembark here. The trainer is Bird Keeper Jose, he has a Lv 45 Fearow, a Lv 45 Farfetch'd, a Lv 45 Pidgeot, and a Lv 45 Dodrio. The item on the ground is a Rare Candy. Surf north, disembark of the boardwalk, and head east to battle Cool Trainer Blake who has a Lv 43 Magneton, a Lv 44 Piloswine, a Lv 43 Exeggutor, and a Lv 44 Quagsire. Surf north to find a Revive on a small patch of ground, and then surf back to the boardwalk. Head east and then north up some stairs to battle with Psychic GIlbert who has a Lv 42 Xatu, a Lv 44 Girafarig, and a Lv 44 Exeggutor. Head east, north up a small set of stairs, east, north up a larger set of stairs, and then east to battle Cool Trainer Reena. She has a Lv 44 Starmie, a Lv 44 Vileplume, a Lv 43 Nidoqueen, a Lv 43 Electrode, and a Lv 45 Starmie. Head south down the first set of stairs and then east into some grass to find TM22 (Solarbeam). Head back west, south down a small set of stairs, east, south down a larger set of stairs, and then start heading east on the boardwalk. You'll see Fisherman Scott on the boardwalk, he has a Lv 45 Quilfish, a Lv 44 Seaking, a Lv 43 Gyarados, and a Lv 43 Quagsire. Continue east, north up a set of stairs, and then east to reach Route 26.

As you enter Route 26, continue east across a bridge, north across another bridge, east, and then north. You'll see a dead tree, to the west of this tree is Psychic Richard who has a Lv 45 Espeon, a Lv 45 Mr. Mime, and a Lv 45 Slowking. Head back east until you hit the treeline, and then head north past a small ledge through some grass and onto a dirt path. Continue north towards the house up ahead, you'll battle Cool Trainer Gaven who has a Lv 50 Victreebel, a Lv 50 Flareon, a Lv 50 Dragonaire, a Lv 50 Kingler, and a Lv 50 Donphan. Head inside the house and talk to the NPC to have your Pokémon healed. Exit the house and grab 5 Sitrus Berries from the berry tree just northwest of the house. Head north up a small set of stairs to the west,east, and north up another small set of stairs to battle Cool Trainer Beth. She has a Lv 45 Rapidash, a Lv 45 Lanturn, a Lv 45 Gengar, a Lv 45 Ampharos, and a Lv 45 Miltank. Head west and then north up a small set of stairs to battle Cool Trainer Jake who has a Lv 45 Cloyster, a Lv 47 Pidgeot, a Lv 45 Jolteon, a Lv 45 Arcanine, and a Lv 45 Alakazam. Head north up two small sets of stairs and then head west to battle Cool Trainer Joyce, she has a Lv 44 Blastoise, a Lv 45 Jumpluff, a Lv 46 Raichu, a Lv 45 Tauros, and a Lv 45 Rhydon. Finally, head north into the gate up ahead which leads to Victory Road.

As you head north through the gate, a guard will stop you to check if you have all 8 badges. Continue north through the large opening to enter Victory Road. Upon entering, head north and push the boulder up ahed from it's south side. Head east, south down a set of stairs, north, east across the top of cliff, past the large set of stairs to the north, into the eastern wall, and then north to find a Full Heal. Head back south, west, and take the large stairs to the north. Continue north across and bridge, take the stairs on the east side of the bridge south to find a Potion. Head north back up those stairs, west, and take the stairs on the west side of the stairs south. Head west into the western wall, north, west, and push the southern boulder two spaces west. You'll find a Max Revive. Head back east past the boulder we move d and head north up a large set up stairs and ascend the ladder in the northwest corner of this floor. On the next floor, head south from the ladder, east, and then north up two small sets of stairs to find an Hp Up. Head west and then north up another small set of stairs, east, south, east, and then south down a bigger set of stairs next to a ladder. Head east into the wall to the east, north, and then push the boulder sitting in front of some stairs all the way to the west and then go north to find a Full Restore. Head back to the three stairsets to the east and take the northern stairs, followed by another stairset to the north, and ascend the ladder in the northeast corner of this room. On the next floor, head east into some rocks and then south, avoiding the hole in the ground. Go west, north up the middle of a set of stairs, and continue north into a breakable rock. Break the two rocks here to find a Max Ether. Head back south, west across the cliff face perpendicular to the stairs to the south, and then go south while hugging the corner of that cliff. You'll see a hole in the ground to the south, ignore this, head west, and fall down the hole to the west. After falling through the hole, you'll find a Max Revive. Jump the ledge to the south and ascend the ladder. On the final floor, head north, west, north, and east around a cliff to find some breakable rocks to the south. Break three rocks to find a Rare Candy. Walk north into a wall, east, and then north into the partial enclosure with a hole in the ground to find an Ultra Ball. Head south back out of this partial enclosure, east past the area we previously broke the rocks, and then north. As you approach the exit, you'll be stopped by your Rival who will challenge you to another battle.

After defeating your Rival, head north and out the exit of Victory Road!

Make your way north from the entrance/exit to Victory Road to enter the Pokémon League HQ. There is both a mart and a nurse inside this building. There is also an NPC with an Abra who will offer to teleport you home if you want more training. Whenever you are ready, be sure and stock up on items and heal up, then head to the northeast corner of the room and enter the the opening to take on the Elite 4!

Your first battle will be against the Psychic user, Elite 4 Will.

In the next room you'll battle the Poison specialist, Elite 4 Koga

In the third room, the Fighting user Elite 4 Bruno will be your opponent.

In the next room you'll battle the final member of the Elite 4, the Dark loving Elite 4 Karen.

In the final room, you'll be taking on the Dragon master, Champion Lance.

After defeating Lance, your team will be recorded into the Hall of Fame. If you are active in the Discord, we would love to have your team shared in the server's Hall of Fame! Once the credits have rolled and you are ready for the second half of the game, select Continue from the main menu, and awaken back in New Bark Town.

As you awaken back in New Bark Town, you'll get a phone call from Elm asking you to stop by his lab. Head there and talk to Elm to be given the S.S. Ticket. This allows us to sail to Kanto from Olivine City. That will be our next destination.

Fly to Olivine and head south from the Pokécenter towards the port. After walking a short distance south on the boardwalk, you'll arrive at the port itself. Inside, you'll see Professor Oak in front of a sailor, speak to him to have your Pokedex upgraded to National Mode, meaning more Pokémon can be registered into your dex. Speak to the sailor to the south to board the S.S. Aqua.

As you enter the boat, you will be stopped by an old man looking for his grandaughter, cluing us in to our next objective: finding her. You'll notice this floor is seperated into a north and south hallway, each with four rooms. Start first by heading to the western room in the northern hallway. In here you will find a PC and a bed where you can heal your Pokémon. Heading east, in the next room you'll battle Sailor Stanly who has a Lv 53 Quilfish, a Lv 53 Machoke, and a Lv 54 Golduck. After battle he will run off to rejoin his crew. Note: this is the only trainer you need to battle in order to progress the story on the ship. Exit and reenter the same room to find two new trainers. Burglar Corey has two Lv 55 Koffing, a Lv 58 Magmar, and a Lv 60 Koffing. Gentleman Edward has a Lv 63 Persian. Exit this room and head to the next one to the east to have a double battle with Hiker Noland & Pokemaniac Ethan, they have a Lv 55 Sandslash, a Lv 61 Haunter, a Lv 55 Golem, and a Lv 61 Rhydon. Exit this room and enter the last room in this northern hallway to the east. Inside you'll battle Cool Trainer Sean who has a Lv 60 Flareon, a Lv 60 Tangela, and a Lv 60 Tauros. The other NPC is Cool Trainer Carol who has a Lv 60 Electrode, a Lv 60 Ninetales, and a Lv 61 Starmie. Exit this room and walk around the east side, past a set of stairs, and enter the easternmost cabin in the southern hallway. In side you'll find the NPC who's grandchild we are searching more. Enter the next cabin to the west to battle Pokefan Colin who has a Lv 56 Delibird. Twins Meg & Peg are also in here, they have a Lv 54 Ursaring and a Lv 54 Donphan. In the next cabin to the west you'll battle Guitarist Clyde who has a Lv 61 Electabuzz. You can also battle Beauty Cassie who has a Lv 60 Vileplume and a Lv 62 Jynx. In the westernmost cabin of the southern hallway you'll battle Firebreather Lyle who has a Lv 54 Weezing, a Lv 54 Flareon, and a Lv 54 Ninetales. You can also battle Bug Catcher Ken who has a Lv 60 Ariados and a Lv 62 Pinsir. That's all the trainers for this floor, head back to the first cabin to heal up if necessary, then descend the stairs in the southeast corner of this floor. On the lower deck, head north, west, and then south into s semi-enclosure with some beds. Talk to Juggler Fritz by the trashcan, he has a Lv 54 Mr. Mime, a Lv 54 Magmar, and a Lv 56 Machoke. In the northwest corner of this enclosure is Picnicker Debra who has a Lv 58 Seaking. By a bed is Fisherman Jonah who has a Lv 55 Shellder, a Lv 59 Octillery, a Lv 55 Remoraid, and a Lv 59 Cloyster. Head north out of this area and then west along the northern hallway. You can battle two sailors running around, the first being Sailor Garret who has a Lv 64 Kingler. The second is Sailor Kenneth who has a Lv 58 Machop, a Lv 58 Machoke, a Lv 58 Poliwrath, and a Lv 58 Machamp. Enter the second semi-enclosure to see four NPCs sitting at a couple of tables. Starting with the northwestern trainer, you'll battle Expert Shirley who has a Lv 61 Jigglypuff and a Lv 63 Wigglytuff. The trainer below her is School Kid Ricky who has a Lv 62 Aipom and a Lv 62 Ditto. Next up is School Kid Nate who has a Lv 62 Ledian and a Lv 62 Exeggutor. The final trainer is Black Belt Wai who has a Lv 56 Machamp, a Lv 58 Machoke, and a Lv 60 Machamp. Exit this semi enclosed room and ascend the stairs to the southwest. You can battle Sailor Jeff here, he has a Lv 58 Raticate and a Lv 58 Furret. Enter the room ahead to find the little girl talking to the captain. Speak with her to take her back to her grandfather who will award you a Metal Coat. As you exit his room, you'll be notified that the S.S. Aqua has reached Viridian City! Head north and speak to the sailor to exit the boat onto the continent of Kanto!

Welcome to Vermilion City! To the north is Route 6, the path east is currently blocked by a Snorlax. From the Pokécenter, follow the road east, south, and then onto the first road going west. The second building here is the Pokémon Fan Club. Speak to the older NPC on the northwest edge of the table and respond to his question with "Yes" to be given a Rare Candy. The only thing left to collect in Vermilion is our badge, however, let's check out a few new areas that are now unlocked, including seeing where that Old Sea Map takes us!

From the Pokécenter in Olivine, head west out of town towards Route 40. At the northwest corner of the route is a gate to the north. Inside, you'll find a move tutor who can teach your Pokémon Substitute. Continue north through the gate to reach Trainer Hill. There are multiple buildings here that provide unique challenges. As you enter Trainer Hill, keep north at the first branch in the path to head up two sets of stairs to reach a large building. This is the Trainer Hill. Just south of the Trainer Hill are three Move Tutors that will teach you Pokémon moves in exchange for BP. The male NPC has the following moves to offer: Frenzy Plant- 64BP Blast Burn- 64BP Hydro Cannon- 64BP The eastern woman NPC has the following moves to offer: Defense Curl- 16BP Snore- 24 BP Mud-Slap- 24BP Swift- 24BP Icy Wind- 24BP Endure- 48BP Psych Up- 48BP Ice Punch- 48BP Thunder Punch- 48BP Fire Punch- 48BP The western woman NPC has the following moves to offer: Softboiled- 16BP Seismic Toss- 24BP Dream Eater- 24BP Mega Punch- 24BP Mega Kick- 48BP Body Slam- 48BP Rock Slide- 48BP Counter- 48BP Thunder Wave- 48BP Swords Dance- 48BP Back to the Trainer Hill building, here, you can take on a challenge called Time Attack. It is a race to the top of the building; the faster you finish, the better the prize. Each floor will feature a double battle, all Pokémon will be Lv 50, including those of yours that are either lower or higher leveled. Your Pokémon will revert back to their actual levels once the challenge is finished. I will update this section once I've done more testing to reflect the potential prizes you can win. Note: The Trainer Hill will be locked until you have beaten the Johto E4 Back outside, head south, and then east at the first branch. You'll see two NPCs standing next to a sign, both are merchants which will exchange items for BP. The western merchant sells vitamins for 1BP a piece. The eastern merchant has the following items to offer: Leftovers- 48BP White Herb-48BP Quick Claw- 48BP Mental Herb- 48BP Brightpowder- 64BP Choice Band- 64BP King's Rock- 64BP Focus Band- 64BP Scope Lens- 64BP Continuing east, there are three Battle Tents which each provide unique challenges. The easternmost tent is the Battle Tent: Palace. Here, you enter pick three Pokémon and can only choose to switch them out in battle--the Pokémon themselves are left to select their moves. Defeating three trainers in a row will be awarded with various prizes. The northern tent is the Battle Tent: Arena. Here, you can take on a the Set-KO Tourney. You'll select three Pokémon and the order you set them in will be the order they are deployed in battle. Once a Pokémon enters battle, you cannot switch it out until the match ends, or it is knocked out. Defeating three trainers in a row will be awarded with various prizes. The eastern tent is the Battle Tent: Factory. Here, you'll use Rental Pokémon to take on Battle Swap events. You'll choose three rental Pokémon to start with, and will have the option to swap one of those Pokémon for another from the Pokémon used by a trainer you defeat. Defeating three trainers in a row will be awarded with various prizes. Once again, I will update this section to reflect the potential prizes once I have gotten more time to test it out. Till then, have fun taking on these unique challenges!

Once you have arrived at Vermilion City, you can now sail to the Battle Frontier from Olivine City. Note: Once you've restored power to the Power Plant, you'll be able to set sail from Vermilion City as well. Speak to the sailor at either city's docks, and respond with "Battle Frontier" to be taken there. Upon arrival, enter the building you see to the east. You'll be given a Frontier Pass by an attendant as you enter. You will also be introduced to an NPC named Scott. Our first objective will be to locate the Pokécenter, which will be the spot from which I'll be directing you around the Frontier. After exiting the first building, walk thirteen steps north, and then head east until you see a wooden bridge that leads east. Cross this bridge to arrive just west of the Pokécenter! Exchange Service: From the Pokécenter, start walking directly north. The Exchange Service is the building with a red roof. There are multiple vendors which exchange items for BP. The western merchant facing south has the following items to offer: Lapras Doll- 128BP Snorlax Doll- 128 BP Venusaur Doll- 256 BP Charizard Doll- 256 BP Blastoise Doll- 256 BP The eastern merfchant facing south offers Vitamins for 1 BP a piece. The merchant facing west has the following items to offer: Treecko Doll: 48 BP Torchic Doll: 48 BP Mudkip Doll: 48 BP Togepi Doll: 48 BP Meowth Doll: 48 BP Clefairy Doll: 48 BP Ditto Doll: 48 BP Cyndaquil Doll: 80 BP Chikorita Doll: 80 BP Totodile Doll: 80 BP The merchant facing east has the following items to offer: Leftovers- 48BP White Herb-48BP Quick Claw- 48BP Mental Herb- 48BP Brightpowder- 64BP Choice Band- 64BP King's Rock- 64BP Focus Band- 64BP Scope Lens- 64BP Ranking Hall: From the Pokécenter, take two steps west, four steps north, twelve steps east, north until you run into a cliff, east until you run into a cliff, north until you run into a cliff, one step east, one step north, eight steps east, then walk north, the building you come to is the Ranking Hall. In here, your records will be posted from the various competitions within the Battle Frontier. Frontier Brains: Each building have a unique Frontier Brain which essentially act as boss battles within their respective competitions. These trainers show up as you get longer streaks. Battle Tower: From the Pokécenter, take two steps west, four steps north, four steps east, and then walk north, the massive building you arrive at is the Battle Tower. Here, you participate in battles using the normal battle rules. Each round consists of seven battles. Winning all seven will be rewarded with BP. The longer your streak, the more BP is awarded. You can either sign up for Single, Double, or Multi Battles. Single and Double battles are basic battles. With Multi Battles, you are paired with an NPC and battle as a team, you don't have control over your teammates Pokémon. The Frontier Brain of the Battle Tower is Anabel, she will appear in Single Battles after reaching a streak of 34 and again after 69. Battle Dome: From the Pokécenter, head across the bridge just east of the Pokécenter. In the next area, walk ten steps west, four steps north, fourteen steps west, and then walk north until you see a large building. This is the Battle Dome. In the battle dome, you will bring three Pokémon along with you. One of your Pokémon will be kept in reserve. You'll get to examine your opponents team beforehand, and then select which two Pokémon you wish to battle with. You win the tournament by defeating four trainers, the amount of BP awarded increases the longer your streak. You can choose to either enter the Single Battles tournament or Double Battles tournament. There is a bridge to the northeast of the Battle Dome. Just west of this bridge is a small house. Inside you will find Scott, who will give you 1 BP. The Frontier Brain of the Battle Dome is Dome Ace Tucker, he will appear after winning four consecutive tournaments, and again after winning nine consecutive tournaments. Battle Palace: From the Pokécenter, take one step south, sixteen steps east, ten steps south, and then head east to find a fancy looking red building. This is the Battle Palace. Here, battles play out as usual, except that the only thing you can do as a trainer is to switch your Pokémon in/out. The Pokémon themselves decide which moves to use. Winning seven battles in a row will be rewarded with BP, the amount of BP won is increased the longer your streak. You can choose to enter Single Battles or Double Battles. The Frontier Brain of the Battle Palace is Palace Maven Spencer, he will battle you after winning twenty consecutive battles, and again after winning forty-one consecutive battles. Battle Arena: From the Pokécenter, take two steps west, four steps north, twenty-nine steps east, then head north to arrive at a building with 6 columns and a black roof. This is the Battle Arena. Here, you will participate in the Set KO Tournament. You select three Pokémon to participate in battles that take up three turns. You cannot switch out Pokémon. When the three turns are up, if you haven't knocked out all of your opponents Pokémon, the participants will be judged according to how well you battled. The amount of hits landed, offensive moves used, and the amount of HP left all factor into how the battle is judged. Winning seven battles in a row will be rewarded with BP, the longer your streak, the more BP is awarded. The Frontier Brain of the Battle Arena is Greta, you'll face her after winning twenty-seven consecutive battles, and again after winning fifty-five consecutive battles. Battle Factory: From the Pokécenter, head west across the bridge. In the next area, take ten steps west, two steps south, twenty-nine steps west, and then head north to find a large yellow and grey striped building. This is the Battle Factory. Here, you will participate in Battle Swap Tournaments. You will participate with Rental Pokémon, you'll be initially given a pool of six Pokémon from which you will create your party of three. Between battles, you can swap one of your Pokémon for one used by the opponent you just beat. Winning seven consecutive battles will net you BP, the longer your streak, the more BP awarded. The Frontier Brain is Noland, he will challenge you after winning twenty consecutive battles, and again after winning forty-one consecutive battles. Battle Pike: From the Pokécenter, head west across the bridge. In the next area, take eight steps west, then head north to find a building shaped like a Seviper. This is the Battle Pike. Here, you will take place in a competition called Battle Choice. Each run consists of fourteen rooms. When you start, you'll be given three different paths from which you'll choose one to take. There will be a maid which gives you a hint about what might lie in wait in one of the rooms. The potential hints are as follows: "I must have heard something.... It may have been whispering" - This means that you will either participate in a Double Battle, or there might just be an NPC talking to themselves. "Is it... a Trainer? I sense the presence of people" - This means you will either battle a trainer or find a maid who will heal your Pokémon. "For some odd reason, I felt a wave of nostalgia coming from it" - This means you'll either run into a man who's Pokémon is running around which will inflict status conditions on your Pokémon or a man who will heal one or two of your Pokémon. "It has the distinct aroma of Pokémon wafting around it" - This means the room will either have wild Pokémon or you will battle a trainer. A maid will heal your Pokémon if you battle a trainer here. The Frontier Brain is Queen Lucy, she will show up in the twenty-eighth room and once again in the 140th room. Battle Pyramid: From the Pokécenter, take two steps west, four steps north, forty-eight steps east, and then north to find a large building shaped like a pyramid. Unsurprisingly, this is the Battle Pyramid. Here, your aim to navigate through seven floors filled with wild Pokémon. The floors are poorly lit, and you are looking to for warp pad which take you to the next floor. Your bag is taken from you beforehand and will be replaced with a Battle Bag. Any items you find in the Pyramid will remain in your Battle Bag until they are either used, or you lose. To be clear, items will carry over to the next challenge if you reach the top of the pyramid. The Frontier Brain is Brandon, he'll meet you on the top of the Pyramid on your third and fifth attempts.

Once the Old Sea Map is acquired, this section becomes available. Fly to Olivine, speak to the sailor at the docks, and respond with "Faraway Island". You'll be taken there. Head north from the small pier onto the island itself. The path to the west leads to a faded sign. Head north instead, up a small set of stairs, west, south, west, north up two more sets of stairs and into some grass. You'll have some unique encounters here. Follow the grass north and then east around the trees in the center, continuing east across a small pond, and then north into another area. Here, you'll see Mew spot you before hiding in some taller grass. Mew will mirror your movements while in the grass. I don't have any great hints for how to do it, just enter the tall grass and press A whenever you move, the goal is to interact with Mew's sprite in the overworld. Eventually, you will find a Lv 50 Mew. This is one of the legendaries that you can't run from and then restart the encounter, so be sure and save beforehand! There's nothing else to do on this island aside from catching Pokémon, head back to the sailor once you are finished and speak to him to leave the island.

Fly back to Vermilion City and heal up, it's time to earn our first badge in Kanto! From the Pokécenter, head east, south, then west onto a road. Cut a tree and enter the gym on the southern side of the road. Before worrying about the gym's gimmick, let's take on the trainers. First up is Guitarist Vincent who has two Lv 57 Magnetons, a Lv 55 Electrode, and a Lv 55 Jolteon. On the east side of this room is Juggler Horton who has two Lv 56 Electrodes, a Lv 57 Electrode, and a Lv 58 Electrode. The final trainer is Gentleman Gregory who has a Lv 57 Pikachu and a Lv 56 Ampharos. To access Lt Surge, you have to find two electronic switches in the trashcans. The first switch is completely random, the second should be in one of the trashcans close to the first switch. Picking the wrong trashcan after finding the first switch resets the puzzle. Soft reseting after finding the first switch also resets the puzzle. If you can use save states, you can save a state right after finding the first switch and reset from there to easily find the second switch. Once both switches are found, the locks will remain permanently disengaged. Head north to battle Leader LtSurge, he has a Lv 57 Electrode holding a Focus Band, a Lv 59 Magnezone, a Lv 58 Lanturn holding Leftovers, a Lv 58 Magnetric, a Lv 59 Electivire holding a Scope Lens, and a Lv 60 Raichu holding a Magnet. Upon victory you'll be awarded the Thunderbadge which increases your Pokémon's speed. Surge will also give you TM24 (Thunderbolt). Be sure and heal up at the Pokécenter and then head north out of Vermilion towards Route 6!

Follow the dirt path north to battle PokeFan Allan, he has a Lv 55 Granbull. Continue following the path east, north, west, and then north to battle PokeFan Rex who has a Lv 55 Stantler. Continue north through two gaps in ledges to find a berry tree which yields 10 Grepa Berries. As you enter the gate to the north, you'll receive another phone call from Warden Baoba informing you that the final area of the Johto Safari Zone has been finished. Continue through the gate to reach Saffron City!

As you first enter Saffron City from Route 6, you'll find the Pokécenter on the west side of the first road going east to west. Saffron City is made up of four streets going east to west and two streets going north to south. Aside from the Pokécenter, there is one other house of interest to enter on the southernmost street. To the east of the Pokécenter, enter the house and speak to an NPC to be given TM29 (Psychic). We will be heading to SIlph Co, the large building in the center of town.

From the Pokécenter in Saffron, head west to the street going north/south, north, and then east onto the first street going east/west. Enter the large building in the middle of this street. The NPC in front of the fountain in this room is Steven, the Hoenn Champion. Speak to him to be asked to pick a colored stone, your choice will dictate which Pokémon he gifts you. "Green Stone" will net a Lv 5 Treecko, "Red Stone" will net a Lv 5 Torchic, and "Blue Stone" will net a Lv 5 Mudkip. Head to the northeast corner of this room and speak to the guard in front of some stairs to be given an Up-Grade. That's it for SIlph Co!

On the northermost road going east-west you'll find two buildings with gym signage. The western of these two buildings is the Fighting Dojo, the eastern building is the Saffron City Gym. Head into the Fighting Dojo. This first room is essentially an EV training arena. You can interact with any of the Pokémon to battle a Lv 1 encounter of their respective species, each of which yields 3EVs of a specific stat. The NPC to east is the Ability Expert, he can swap a Pokémon's ability for ₽25,000. Note: Not every Pokémon has multiple abilities. You can talk to the nurse to heal your party. Continue into the next room to the north. This next room will be relatively barren if you've been following the walkthrough up to this point. We will start encountering gym leaders in various places in the overworld after you've beaten them. Talking to the leaders will lead them to being transported to this room, where they will be available to battle again with tougher teams. Beating gym leaders in these rematches will yield 10BP. BP can be used at various vendors in this room. First, you'll notice another Nurse at the center counter on the north side of the room, you can heal up here. The NPC at the counter east of the Nurse will trade these items for BP: Leftovers- 48BP White Herb-48BP Quick Claw- 48BP Mental Herb- 48BP Brightpowder- 64BP Choice Band- 64BP King's Rock- 64BP Focus Band- 64BP Scope Lens- 64BP The NPC at the counter west of the Nurse sells vitamins for 1BP a piece. You'll see a table just south of the western counter with three NPCS around it--these are the Move Tutors. The woman NPC on the north side of the table has the following moves to offer: Defense Curl- 16BP Snore- 24 BP Mud-Slap- 24BP Swift- 24BP Icy Wind- 24BP Endure- 48BP Psych Up- 48BP Ice Punch- 48BP Thunderpunch- 48BP Fire Punch- 48BP The male NPC sitting on the northwest chair at this table has the following moves to offer: Frenzy Plant- 64BP Blast Burn- 64BP Hydro Cannon- 64BP The NPC sitting on the southwest chair at this table has the following moves to offer: Softboiled- 16BP Seismic Toss- 24BP Dream Eater- 24BP Mega Punch- 24BP Mega Kick- 48BP Body Slam- 48BP Rock Slide- 48BP Counter- 48BP Thunder Wave- 48BP Swords Dance- 48BP That's it for the Fighting Dojo for now, I will be pointing out where we find the Gym Leaders as we naturally explore and will also have a section summarizing their locations and teams towards the end of this walkthrough. Be sure you are healed up and head to the building next door, it's time to take on the Saffron City Gym!

This gym requires navigating a warp pads to find yourself to the gym leader Sabrina. Take the warp in the first room. You can battle Psychic Jared in the next room, he has a Lv 58 Unown, a Lv 58 Exeggutor, and a Lv 58 Mr. Mime. Take the warp pad on the southwest corner to the next room. Here, you can battle Hex Maniac Rebecca who has two Lv 58 Hypnos, and a Lv 58 Jynx. Take the warp pad on the northwest corner to the next room. Here, you can battle Psychic Doris who has a Lv 58 Noctowl, a Lv 59 Slowbro, and a Lv 58 Xatu.Take the warp pad on the southwest corner to the next room. Here, you can battle Psychic Franklin who has a Lv 60 Alakazam. Take the warp pad on the southwest corner to arrive at the final room where you can battle Leader Sabrina. Sabrina has a Lv 65 Mr. Mime holding a Quick Claw, a Lv 64 Jynx, a Lv 64 Slowbro holding a Chesto Berry, a Lv 64 Wobbuffet holding Leftovers, a Lv 65 Espeon, and a Lv 66 Alakazam holding a Twistedspoon. You'll be awarded the Marshbadge upon victory!

Take the gate heading west out of Saffron City to arrive at Route 7. To the south is a berry tree which yields 10 Tamato Berries. The only other thing of interest here is the patch of grass to the north. Head west to arrive at Celadon City.

Welcome to Celadon City! As you enter town from Route 7, you'll see a Pokécenter to the north. From the Pokécenter, head west on the white path and then south on a grassy path between two buildings towards another white path. The larger of the two buildings on the west side of this grassy path is the Celadon Game Corner. Follow the white path west, south at the first fork, and then east across the lower row of buildings. You'll eventually find a berry tree that yields 10 Hondew Berries. Head back west from this berry tree, and then head north into the first building that you can enter. This is the Celadon Diner. Interact with the trash can in the southeast corner of the room to find Leftovers. Exit the building and head back to the Pokécenter.

From the Pokécenter in Celadon, take the grassy path on the east side of the Pokécenter north, west, north, west, and then south into a back entrance to the Celadon Mansion. Ascending three sets of stairs will land you on the roof of the building. Here, you'll see a smaller building to the south of the staircase. Enter and speak to the NPC during nighttime to get TM44 (Rest). This clears the backside of the Mansion. Head back to the Pokécenter and, this time, head west and then north to the front entrance of the Mansion. Ascend the staircase to the second floor. Here, you'll meet NPCs representative of multiple Devs/Playtesters of H&S! Ascend another staircase to arrive at the third floor. Here, you'll meet NPCs representative of the Gamefreak Dev Team. If you talk to the NPC with blue hair after catching every Pokémon, you'll be awarded a Diploma. That's it for this building. Make your way back to the first floor and exit.

From the Celadon Mansion, head west to find a large building. This is the Celadon Dept Store. On the third floor, you'll find the TM shop. Here you can buy TM38 (Fire Blast), TM25 (Thunder), TM14 (Blizzard), and TM15 (Hyper Beam). On the fifth floor, you can find Leader Falkner. Speak to him here to transport him to the Saffron Fighting Dojo. You can now challenge him to a rematch whenever you'd like! That's the last of the unique things to find here. Exit the store and heal up at the Pokécenter. It's time to take on the Celadon City Gym!

From the Celadon Pokécenter, head west and then south down the grassy path between two buildings. Once again, follow the white path west, south at the first fork, and then east along the southern row of houses. South of the Celadon Diner is a tree. After cutting the tree down, follow the path west and then north to arrive at the Celadon City Gym! After entering the gym, cut a tree and walk north to battle Twins Jo & Zoe who have a Lv 58 Victreebel and a Lv 58 Vileplume. Up ahead, the trainer to the east is Beauty Julia, she has a Lv 58 Parasect, a Lv 58 Sunflora, and a Lv 56 Exeggutor. Across from Julia to the west is Picnicker Tanya who has a Lv 57 Bellossom, a Lv 57 Sunflora, and a Lv 57 Exeggutor. Continue north to battle Lass Michelle, she has two Lv 57 Jumpluffs and a Lv 58 Jumpluff. All that is left is to battle Leader Erika, she has a Lv 61 Jumpluff holding a Focus Band, a Lv 60 Roserade, a Lv 60 Tangrowth, a Lv 61 Venusaur holding Leftovers, a Lv 62 Victreebel holding a Poison Barb, and a Lv 62 Bellossom holding a Miracle Seed. Winning the battle will net you the Rainbowbadge, as well as TM19 (Giga Drain). That's it for the gym! Exit the building and heal up at the Pokécenter. There is one final thing to do in Celadon as we make our way out of town. From the Pokécenter, head west to the fountain in front of the Celadon Dept Store. You'll see Leader Erika here, speak to her to have her transported to the Saffron City Fighting Dojo where you can now have rematches with her. Continue west out of town to arrive at Route 16.

After entering Route 16 from the east, head north through a gap in the fence and then west to find a berry tree which yields 10 Hondew Berries. Head back east and then south through the gap in the fence, and then continue west through the gate. You'll have to mount your bicycle to go through the gate!

Route 17, or Cycling Road, requires you to be on a bike throughout. For a large portion of the route, you will automatically go south due to an incline. As you enter the route, head west to the end of the dirt path, then head south. You'll see two grey roads, take the east one for now. You'll run into Biker Joel who has a Lv 58 Magmar and a Lv 58 Electabuzz. Head back north to the top of the route and then take the western road south. First, you'll battle Biker Riley, he has a Lv 60 Weezing. Continue south to eventually reach Biker Charles, he has a Lv 56 Poliwrath, a Lv 56 Weezing, and a Lv 56 Charizard. Continue south down the path into a fence, from there, head east onto the road to the east. Head north up this road to battle the final trainer, Biker Glenn. He has a Lv 57 Koffing, a Lv 55 Magmar, and a Lv 58 Weezing. After battling Glenn, head south as far as the route will let you, and then head east through a gate to exit the route.

As soon as you exit the gate from Route 17, head south into a patch of grass. The first trainer is Bird Keeper Boris who has a Lv 60 Yanma, a Lv 58 Murkrow, and a Lv 60 Dodrio. The other trainer is Bird Keeper Bob who has a Lv 61 Noctowl. Head east from here to reach Fuchsia City!

As you enter Fuchsia City from Route 18, follow the brick road east. Cut a tree to the north to access a berry tree next to a pond with a Kabuto in it, this berry tree yields 5 Sitrus Berries. Return to the brick path and follow it north past the first branch heading east and then heading west at the second branch in the path. Follow this path past the Pokémart to reach another berry tree which yields 10 Qualot Berries. That's all to collect in the city. From the Qualot tree, follow the brick patch east, south at the branch. You'll see the red roof of the Pokécenter to the south, walk through the grassy path southward to find your way to the Pokécenter. Next, we will want to head to the gate on the east side of town to trigger a phone call before heading to the Safari Zone on the north side of town. From the Pokécenter, jump the ledge to the east and take the grassy path north back to the brick road. Follow this road east into the gate on Route 15. You'll get a phone call from Warden Baoba saying that he heard the Fuchsia City Safari Zone reopened. He will ask you to catch one of the exotic Pokémon found there and bring it back to him at the Johto Safari Zone. Exit the gate and follow the brick path back west. Go north at the first branch of the path to reach the Kanto Safari Zone!

As you enter the Kanto Safari Zone, Steven will introduce himself again as the owner of the Safari Zone. He'll also say that you can upgrade the Safari Zone at any time by talking to the attendant at the counter to the west. Each upgrade costs a substantial amount of money. However, by fulfilling Warden Baoba's request, you'll be rewarded with the money needed to upgrade the Safari Zone all the way, so we will focus on doing that first. You'll also see berry blending machines to the east of this room. Head north, pay the ₽500 fee, and enter the Safari Zone. Your access to other areas will be blocked off by guards. To fulfill Baoba's request, you must catch a Gen 3 Pokémon. All the wild Pokémon in this first area fit the bill so catch at least one Pokémon, and then once you've retired, add that Pokémon to your party and Fly to the Johto Safari Zone Gate. Head north into the Safari Zone gate and speak to Baoba at the table to the west, he will reward you with ₽200,000 and ask you to use it to upgrade the Kanto Safari Zone and bring him back a Pokémon from the Brush area. Fly back to Fuchsia City and head to the Safari Zone and speak to the southern attendant at the counter to unlock the Brush area.

Enter the Safari Zone and follow the dirt path north into a treeline. Head west from here to reach the Brush. After catching another gen 3 Pokémon from the Brush area, return to Baoba at the Johto Safari Zone. Showing him that Pokémon will net you ₽300,000 to be used to unlock the Mountain area in the Kanto Safari Zone. He will ask you to show him a Pokémon from that area once again. Fly back to Fuchsia City and speak to the attendent at the Safari Zone counter to unlock the Mountain area.

Enter the Safari Zone and follow the dirt path north into a treeline once again. Head west, this time going north at the branch in the path into the newly unlocked area. Catch yourself another Gen 3 Pokémon and return to Baoba. You'll be given ₽400,000 to unlock the Cave area, and asked to bring back Baoba one final Pokémon from that area. At this point, you know the drill, Fly back to Fuchsia and speak to the attendant once more to unlock the final area, the Cave.

Enter the Safari Zone and follow the dirt path north into a treeline once again. Head west and then north at the branch towards the Mountain area, this time keeping north into the cave entrance. Catch yourself one more Gen 3 Pokémon and return to Baoba. His final reward will be another ₽400,000, this time, you don't have any upgrades to spend the money on, so enjoy this substantial bonus! Fly back to Fuchsia City once you are ready to continue.

From the Pokécenter, head west to find the Fuchsia City Gym. This gym has invisible walls to navigate around, along with trainers that disguise themselves as the Leader. To battle the first trainer, from the entrance of the gym take one step east, eight steps north, and then one step east and speak to the NPC. She will reveal herself to be Lass Alice who has two Lv 58 Vileplumes, and a Lv 59 Arbok. Return to the entrance of the gym. From here, walk six steps to the east, and then 13 steps north. Talking to the NPC will start a battle with Lass Linda, she has a Lv 58 Venusaur, a Lv 58 Quilfish, and a Lv 58 Muk. Walk five steps to the west and then 4 steps north. Speak to the NPC here to battle Picnicker Cindy, she has a Lv 57 Tentacruel and a Lv 60 Nidoqueen. Walk five steps to the west and then two steps south. Talk to the NPC here to battle Camper Berry, he has a Lv 57 Tentacruel and a Lv 60 Nidoking. Take one step south, two steps west, four steps south, and finally two steps east. It is finally time to battle Leader Janine, she has a Lv 63 Weezing holding Leftovers, a Lv 62 Muk, a Lv 61 Swalot, a Lv 62 Nidoqueen holding a Quick Claw, a Lv 63 Crobat, and a Lv 64 Venomoth holding a Bright Powder. Upon victory, you'll be given the Soulbadge and TM06 Toxic. To exit the gym, walk two steps west, four steps north, two steps east, three steps north, seven steps east, three steps south, four steps east, thirteen steps south, and then a final six steps west. Exit the gym and heal up, there are a bunch of trainers coming up on the next few routes.

Head east out of Fuchsia to reach Route 15. After going through the gate, continue east. The first trainer will be School Kid Johnny who has a Lv 59 Tauros and a Lv 59 Victreebel. Continuing east will lead to a battle with Expert Colette who has a Lv 60 Clefairy. Coninue east to battle School Kid BIlly, he has a Lv 57 Parasect, a Lv 57 Poliwrath, and a Lv 60 Ditto. Continue east. Just as you enter Route 14, head north and then west through a gap between a ledge and a tree back onto the northern part of Route 15. Head west to battle School Kid Kipp who has a Lv 59 Electrode and a Lv 59 Magnemite. Continue west to battle Expert Hillary who has a Lv 61 Aipom and a Lv 61 Cubone. Continue west to battle School Kid Tommy, he has a Lv 60 Xatu and a Lv 58 Alakazam. Just west of Tommy you'll find a PP Up. Head back to Route 14 to the east.

As you enter Route 14 from Route 15 to the west, continue east until you reach the cliff's edge. Head north from here to see Suicune run away. Eusine will show up and talk about how Suicune must have went somewhere north... we'll finish out this quest soon enough. Continue north to battle Biker Roy, he has two Lv 59 Fearows. Continue north until you see a maze of fences. To the east, you'll find a Pidgeotto. Give it a Qualot Berry to receive TM40 (Aerial Ace). Walk north through two gaps in the fences to battle Pokefan Carter, he has a Lv 65 Chikorita, a Lv 65 Cyndaquil, and a Lv 65 Totodile. Head east, north through a gap in the fence, west, and then north through another gap to battle Juggler Trevor who has a Lv 60 Scizor. Up ahead to the east is Route 13.

Head east a short distance, you'll see a berry tree which yields 10 Qualot Berries just south of the top fence. Return to the northern path and continue east, south through a gap in the fence, and then west to battle Juggler Bret who has a Lv 58 Skarmory, and a Lv 58 Fearow. Go south through the gap in the fence, west, south through another gap in the fence, and then west once more to battle Hiker Kenny. Kenny has a Lv 56 Sandslash, two Lv 59 Gravellers, and a Lv 57 Golem. Head back east, north through the gap in the fence, and then continue east to battle Bird Keeper Perry who has a Lv 61 Farfetch'd. Head back west, south through a gap in the fence, east, south, east two steps, north through a gap in the fence, and then east to battle Pokefan Joshua. Joshua has a three Lv 60 Pikachu. Take one more step east to battle Battle Girl Alex who has a Lv 56 Nidoking, a Lv 58 Seaking, and a Lv 57 Slowking. Continue east to reach a boardwalk, this will eventually wrap around to the north and turn into Route 12.

Continue north up the boardwalk until you see a cuttable tree to the west, Cut down the tree to find a Calcium. Return to the boardwalk and continue north until you find Fisherman Kyle, he has a Lv 58 Seaking, a Lv 59 Seaking, and a Lv 58 Poliwhirl. Just north of Kyle you'll see another cuttable tree, Cut it down to find an Elixer. Return to the boardwalk and continue north to find Fisherman Barney, he has three Lv 58 Gyarados. Head west and then north to find a house. Inside, speak to the NPC who will give you the Super Rod. Exit the house, head east and then continue north on the boardwalk. You'll eventually find Fisherman Stephen who has a Lv 75 Magikarp, a Lv 58 Quilfish, a Lv 57 Tentacruel, and a Lv 57 Gyarados. Continue following the boardwalk north to reach the final trainer on this route Fisherman Martin, he has a Lv 58 Remoraid and a Lv 60 Octillery. Head back south all the way to the house where we got the Super Rod. From here, head east, north, west, north, and then west on a path between two fences to reach Route 11.

As you enter Route 11 from Route 12 to the east, head north at the end of the northern fence. You'll find a Berry Tree which yields 10 Grepa Berries. Just east of the fence below the berry tree is Youngster Owen in the grass, he has a Lv 55 Arcanine. To the north is Psychic Fidel who has a Lv 54 Xatu. Continue west from Fidel to find Youngster Jason who has a Lv 55 Octillery and a Lv 55 Crobat. Continue west a bit further to find Psychich Herman in some grass, he has a Lv 55 Exeggutor, a Lv 55 Xatu, and a Lv 55 Starmie. Return to Route 12 to the east and follow the boardwalk north. This will eventually land you in Lavender Town!

As you enter Lavender Town from Route 12 to the South, the first house you see to the west is the residence of another Name Rater. The large building in town is the Kanto Radio Tower. Speaking to NPC's in here will reveal that the Power Plant is experiencing issues, clueing us to our next objective. Heal up at the Pokécenter and head north out of town towards Route 10.

As you enter Route 10 from Lavender Town to the south, head north, east, and then north through two gaps between ledges to battle Hiker Jim who has a Lv 58 Machamp. Go north one step, and then head west to battle Pokefan Robert who has a Lv 60 Kangaskhan. To the west you'll find an Ultra Ball. Enter the cave opening to the north to reach the Rock Tunnel.

As you enter the tunnel from Route 10 to the south, head north into a wall, then head west to find an Elixer. Head east until you hit a wall, south until you hit a wall, and then east to find TM42 (Facade). Head north and descend the ladder up ahead. On the next floor, head south, east at the branch in the path, south at the next branch as far down as you can go, and then west to find a PP Up. Head back east, north, east at the branch in the path, north as far as you can go, and then east to find an Iron. Head back west, south, and then east at the branch in the path. Ascend the ladder. On the next floor, head south as far as you can go, sixteen steps west, and then north until you reach a ladder that you will descend. On the next floor, head south as far as you can go, five steps east, south as far as you can go, nine steps west, south as far as you can go, twelve steps west, six steps south, twenty-one steps east, and then north to a ladder that you will ascend. On the final floor, head south as far as you can go, west as far as you can go, north as far as you can go, and then finally ascend the ladder you see to the west to exit the Rock Tunnel.

As you enter Route 10 from the Rock Tunnel, you'll see a Pokécenter to the east. Heal up if needed, and then head north from the Pokécenter, through a gap in a ledge and into some grass. Head west and then north through a gap in the fence and to a coastline. Surf east into a wall, and then south until you see some land to disembark on to the west. Follow this land south and then west to find the Power Plant! Just outside is Leader LT Surge, speak to him to send him to the Fighting Dojo in Saffron where you can challenge him to a rematch. Enter the Power Plant and make your way through an opening in the wall to the northeast. In the next room, speak to the scientist NPC in front of a generator. He will reveal himself to be the manager and talk about how someone ruined his generator. Return to the entrance of the Power Plant. As you try to exit, a security guard will stop and ask you to investigate a shady character in Cerulean City. Our next objective is clear, surf back to northern part of Route 10 and take the path just west of the tall grass which leads to Route 9.

As you enter Route 9 from Route 10 to the east, walk east until you hit a wall. Jump a ledge just below you to battle Picnicker Heidi, she has a Lv 56 Jumpluff and a Lv 58 Seadra. Jump another ledge to the south to battle Hiker TIm who has a Lv 55 Golem, a Lv 55 Kabutops, and a Lv 55 Quagsire. Head west and then north through a gap between ledges. Head east, north through a gap between a ledge and a cliff, and then north through a gap between two ledges to battle Hiker Sidney. Sidney has a Lv 56 Dugtrio and a Lv 56 Steelix. Head back south between the ledges, west at the first branch in the path, and then south to battle Picnicker Edna who has a Lv 56 Nidoqueen and a Lv 56 Raichu. Jump the ledge to the south and then head west to battle Camper Dean who has a Lv 56 Heracross and a Lv 57 Kangaskhan. Head back east a short distance, and then north through a gap between a ledge and a cliff. Continue north through another gap between a ledge and a cliff, then head west towards some grass to battle Camper Sid who has a Lv 56 Dugtrio, a Lv 55 Primeape, and a Lv 56 Poliwrath. Jump the ledge to the south and head west to reach Cerulean City!

As you enter Cerulean City from Route 9 to the east, head west as you enter town to find the Pokécenter to the south. There aren't any NPC's in town with goodies to give, so let's follow up on that tip from the Power Plant guard, and head to the Gym to investigate.

As you enter the gym, a Rocket Grunt will run into you. He'll ask you to forget him, and run off. Leave the gym and follow the white path east, north, and then west. Align yourself with the roof of the Pokécenter and head north to reach Route 24. You'll see the Rocket Grunt on the bridge you are on, talk to him to start a battle, he has a Lv 30 Koffing. Upon victory, he'll tell you that he hid the Machine Part in the Cerulean City gym. Fly back to Cerulean and enter the gym. You'll notice a flash on the floor just below the central pool of water. Interact with the tile that flashed to find the Machine Part. Our next objective is to return this part to the Power Plant!

Along with fixing the generator, we will also have the opportunity to catch Zapdos at the Power Plant, so be sure and heal up and stock up on Pokeballs if necessary! From Cerulean City, take the path east out of town towards Route 9. Jump a ledge to the south, walk to the square east of the trainer you see, and head east from there. Walk until you run into a cliff, then head north through a gap between a ledge and that cliff. Continue north through a gap between two ledges, head east, jump down a ledge to the south, and continue east to reach Route 10. Head north through a gap in the fence and surf east, south, and then disembark on the coast to the west to reach the Power Plant once again. Enter the Power Plant and make your way to the opening in the wall towards the northeast corner of this room. Inside, speak to the Manager once more to return the Machine Part. You'll be given TM25 (Thunder) as a reward. Exit and then re-enter this room. Upon re-entry, you'll notice the worker guarding the exit to the west is no longer there. Take this exit to find a Lv 50 Zapdos!

From Cerulean City, take the bridge north out of town to reach Route 24. Continue north as far as you can. You'll notice a berry tree behind some ledges, it yields 10 Kelpsy Berries. Jump the ledge south of this tree, and head east to reach Route 25.

Continue east as you enter Route 25 to battle School Kid Dudley, he has a Lv 56 Vileplume. The next trainer is Lass Ellen who has a Lv 55 Wigglytuff and a Lv 55 Granbull. Walk to the square just north Ellen and walk north one step, three steps east, and two steps south to battle School Kid Joe who has a Lv 56 Tangela and a Lv 56 Vaporeon. Walk one step west, two steps north, one step west, three steps north, and then four steps east to battle Lass Laura. Laura has a Lv 55 Bellossom, a Lv 55 Politoed, and a Lv 55 Pidgeot. Walk south three steps, east two steps, and then interact with Camper Lloyd from behind, he has a Lv 57 Nidoking. Walk two steps west, three steps north, four steps east, and then three steps north to battle Lass Shannon. Shannon has a two Lv 56 Parasects, and a a Lv 55 Tangela. Walk south one step and head east. You'll see a berry tree which yields 10 Kelpsy Berries behind a cuttable tree. Just east is Super Nerd Pat who has a Lv 56 Porygon, a Lv 56 Magneton, and a Lv 56 Porygon2. Continue east to meet Cool Trainer Kevin who will award you with a Big Nugget for beating all the trainers, and then challenge you to a battle. Kevin has a Lv 58 Rhyhorn, a Lv 57 Lanturn, a Lv 58 Charizard, and a Lv 57 Espeon. Continue east, past a house to the north, to find a cliff with two NPCs on it. Approach the NPCs to cause one to run off, and the other to complain about your interruption. She will eventually reveal herself to be the Cerulean Gym Leader Misty, and tell you to come challenge her at here gym. Before we do this, head into the house we just walked by on this route.

Inside the house on Route 25 you'll meet Bill's grandpa. He will ask you to show him different Pokémon and will reward you for doing so. The first Pokémon he wants to see is Spinda, which can be found on Route 5. You'll be awarded an Everstone. The next Pokémon he wants to see is Roselia, which can be found on Route 16. You'll be awarded a Leaf Stone. The next Pokémon he wants to see is Lotad, which can be found in the Beach area of the Kanto Safari Zone. You'll be awarded a Deepseatooth. The next Pokémon he wants to see is Growlithe, which can be found on Route 36. You'll be awarded a Sun Stone. The final Pokémon he wants to see is Pichu, which can be found on Route 31. You'll be awarded a Deepseascale. That's it for here, Fly back to Cerulean and heal up, it's time to take of the Gym!

As you enter the gym, head towards the trainer closest to you to the east to battle Swimmer Parker, he has two Lv 57 Seadras and a Lv 57 Gyarados. The trainer on the west side of this pool is Swimmer Diana who has a Lv 57 Golduck, a Lv 57 Cloyster, and a Lv 57 Corsola. Just below Misty to the north is Swimmer Briana, she has two Lv 58 Seakings and a Lv 58 Azumarill. The final battle is with Leader Misty, she has a Lv 62 Golduck, a Lv 62 Quagsire holding a Quick Claw, a Lv 61 Vaporeon holding Leftovers, a Lv 61 Milotic, a Lv 62 Lapras holding Nevermeltice, and a Lv 63 Starmie holding Mystic Water. You'll be awarded the Cascadebadge upon victory, as well as TM03 (Water Pulse).

After defeating Misty, we can finally finish up the Suicune arc! Take the bridge north of Cerulean City toward Route 24, head east towards Route 25, and make your way east through the small maze of trainers to get back to the cliff where you initially found Misty on her date. This time, you'll see Suicune on the cliff. As you approach from the south, Eusine will catch up and finally concede that you are the chosen trainer for Suicune. Interact with it to battle a Lv 50 Suicune.

From Cerulean, head south out of town to reach Route 5. You'll notice some ledges bridging the gap between two fences down the center of the route. Jump five ledges and enter the house. Talking to the old lady will net you a Cleanse Tag. That's it for this route!

From Saffron City, head out of town via the eastern gate to reach Route 8. You'll find Biker Dwayne to the east as you enter the route, he has a Lv 57 Koffing, a Lv 58 Koffing, a Lv 59 Koffing, and a Lv 60 Koffing. Head south to find Biker Harris who has a Lv 59 Flareon. Head east to battle Biker Zeke who has a Lv 58 Crobat and a Lv 56 Muk. Follow the dirt path north and then east to battle Super Nerd Sam who has a Porygon2. Continue east to find a berry tree which yields 10 Tamato Berries. Just south of this tree is Super Nerd Tom who has two Lv 56 Magnemites and a Lv 56 Steelix. From here, walk south back onto the dirt path, and follow it east to reach Lavender Town.

After fixing the generator at the Power Plant, head to the Radio Tower just east of the Pokécenter in Lavender Town and enter. Speak to the old man NPC to be given the Radio Upgrade. With this, we can now awaken the Snorlax in Vermilion City, let's Fly there now!

From the Pokécenter in Vermilion, follow the street east, south at the first branch, south at the second branch, west at the third branch into a wall, north up some stairs, and then east to find Snorlax. After acquiring the Radio Upgrade, press A to awaken and battle a Lv 50 Snorlax holding Leftovers. The cave opening previously blocked by Snorlax is the entrance to Diglett's Cave, our next target.

After entering the cave from Vermilion City, you'll descend a ladder to reach the main tunnel. The path is a straight shot northwest to a ladder which you will ascend. In the next room, take the exit to the south to reach Route 2.

After exiting Diglett's Cave, head south and enter the house. Speaking to the NPC inside will net you a Nugget. Exit the house, Cut the tree to the south, and walk south through a gate. Continue south to find a Carbos. Even further south is a Nugget on the ground. Make your way back north all the way to the entrance to Diglett's Cave and Cut the tree to the west. Go north from here to reach Pewter City!

As you enter Pewter City from Route 2 to the south, walk north to find the Pokécenter. From the Pokécenter, head east, north at the fork in the road, continuing north at the next fork. Wondering around the third fork just ahead is a chubby NPC who can teach your Pokémon Rollout. Head back south, this time heading east onto the street in front of the Mart, and then north up some stairs onto a small cliff occupied by an NPC who is an old man. Talk to him to receive either the Silver Wing or the Rainbow Wing, dependant on what legendary you chose to face earlier in Johto. If you have followed the walkthrough to this point, you will receive the Silver Wing, and the section revolviong around the Lugia encounter will be explained once we finish up in Pewter City. For those who already have Lugia, here is a link to the section of the walkthrough about the Tin Tower/Ho-oh. From the old man, head back down the stairs and to the street to the east. Head north up some stairs to find a berry tree which yields 10 Pomeg Berries.

Our next target will be the east wing of the Pewter City Museum to the north. From the Pokécenter, head east, north at the first fork, and continue north past the second and third forks as far as you can go. Head west and then north up some stairs in front of the museum. Rather than entering, head east and enter the small building you see connected to the museum. On a table you will see two fossils, interact with them to receive the Claw Fossil and the Root Fossil. The scientist at the southern desk can resurrect fossils. Exit this building and head into the main entrance of the museum. You'll see a hiker NPC on the north side of the first floor who is looking for Shards. You can trade a Red Shard for a Sun Stone, a Yellow Shard for a Deepseatooth, a Green Shard for a Leaf Stone, and a Blue Shard for a Deepseascale. That wraps up the valuables around Pewter, exit the museum, head down the stairs, and follow the street west, south, and then east to reach the entrance to Pewter City Gym.

This gym is about as straight forward as they come! Head north to battle Camper Jerry who has a Lv 60 Dugtrio, a lv 58 Sandslash, and a Lv 60 Donphan. Just ahead is Leader Brock, he has Lv 66 Golem holding a Quick Claw, a Lv 66 Aerodactyl holding a Hard Stone, a Lv 66 Kabutops holding a Scope Lens, a Lv 66 Omastar holding a Focus Band, a Lv 66 Relicanth holding a Hard Stone, and a Lv 66 Kleavor holding a Quick Claw. You'll be awarded the Boulderbadge upon victory, as well as TM26 (Earthquake).

If you've been following the walkthrough up to this point, you've already battled Ho-oh and will be ready to take on this section once you acquire the SIlver Wing in Kanto. If instead you elected to pursue Lugia first, you can take on this section once you've acquired the Silver WIng and the Clear Bell, and have taken on the Kimono Girls after receiving your 8th badge. Ensure you are stocked up on Pokeballs (Love or Level Balls ftw), as well as some Escape Ropes, then Fly to Cianwood. From the Pokécenter, walk to the southeastern corner of the island and begin surfing southeast. Just past a Swimmer close to Cianwood, you'll see the Southwest entrance into the Whirl Islands. You'll have to surf along the southern portion of this island, before going north and traversing across a whirlpool to the west in order to reach the entrance. Inside, go north and then descend a ladder. Ascend that same ladder to return to the first floor and grab the Full Restore east of the ladder. Descend and then reascend once more to come back to the first floor, then head south, and Surf east across a small pond. You'll find a Guard Spec to the south. Head north and descend the ladder. On the next floor, take two steps east, begin surfing east until you hit a cliff, then surf north until you disembark onto land to the north. Take four steps north, ignore the stairs you see to the north, and beging walking east. After a short distance, you'll see the path branch to the south, follow it south until you find a Big Nugget. Return to the stars we previously ignored by heading north and then west. After ascending the stairs, you'll see a cave with a large opening. Before entering the cave, walk around to the backside to find a Carbos. Walk back around and enter the cave. In the next room, follow the path north and then east and descend the ladder. Head west across the next room to find another ladder which you will descend. Head east across the next room to find yet another ladder which you will descend. In the next room, walk to the northwest corner of the small island you are on and begin surfing east. Ignore the small patch of land in front of a stairset to the north, and instead disembark on land further east which has a large cave opening. Within this cave is Lugia. If you've gotten here before acquiring the Silver Wing and defeating the Kimono Girls in Ecruteak, a Tentacruel will block your path. Speaking to it three times will start an encounter with a Lv 100 Tentacruel. You cannot catch this Pokémon, and if you manage to knock it out, it will heal itself and continue to block the path into the cave until you have gotten the Silver Wing and defeated the Kimono Girls. Inside the cave, if you selected "Silver" when speaking to Baoba earlier in the game, the Kimono Girls will be here. There will be a cutscene where they will perform a dance to summon a Lv 50 Lugia. If you selected "Gold" the Lugia you find will be Lv 70. Once you've battled Lugia, we will get back to collecting the rest of the items within the Whirl Islands, so go ahead and head south to exit the cave. Back outside of Lugia's cave, walk five steps east and then surf east a short distance and disembark onto the land in front of a tall set of stairs. Ascend the stairs, head west, ascend another set of stairs, head east, and then ascend yet another set of stairs. Head east to find a PP Max. Return west and surf north, ascend a waterfall, then disembark onto land to the east to find a Full Restore. Surf west and ascend another waterfall to the north. Disembark on the land to the east and ascend the ladder you see to the north. On the next floor, follow the path to the northeast to find a ladder which you will ascend, leading to an Ultra Ball. Use an escape rope to avoid having to make your way back to the entrance, we will need to enter from one of the other islands to collect the remaining items. Fly back to Cianwood and head to the northern shore directly north of the Pokécenter. We will be aiming to enter the northwest Whirl Island. Surf north 3 spaces, then head east. Traverse the whirlpool you see to the northeast and enter the cave. Inside, head east and descend the ladder you see to the northeast. On the next floor, walk two spaces west, then head south. You'll descend the easternmost small staircase to the south, walk east three spaces, then ascend another small staircase. Start making your way south, eventually descending a ladder you find to the southeast. In this room you will find a Max Revive. Ascend the ladder to return to the previous floor. Head south from the ladder and then west to eventually find a Calcium. Make your way back east to the ladder we just descended, north, south down the small set of stairs, east, and north up another small set of stairs. Continue north towards the ladder we originally descended down to this flood, then head south down the set of stairs to the southeast of the ladder. Continue south into the cliff, then head north up the stairs just east of your position. Continue north into the cliff, then descend the stairs you see to the southeast. You'll find a Full Restore. Use an Escape Rope here, we only have two more items to find in the northeast Whirl Island! Back outside, surf towards the whirlpool you see to the east and traverse across it. Continue east to find another whirlpool which you will traverse, and enter the cave opening just northwest of the whirlpool. Inside, head east and jump the ledge and collect a Rare Candy. Descend the ladder southwest of your position. Surf west across the water to find the final item in the Whirl Islands, an Escape Rope. Go ahead and use that to return outside!

Head east out of Pewter City to reach Route 3. The first trainer you will face is Youngster Jimmy, he has a Lv 59 Raticate and a Lv 59 Arbok. Head north through a gap between ledges into a cliff and then east to battle Youngster Warren who has a Lv 60 Fearow. Continue east, south through a gap between a ledge and a cliff, and then east to battle Firebreather Otis. Otis has two Lv 58 Magmars and a Lv 60 Weezing. Continue east, head north through a gap between a ledge and a cliff, east, and jump a ledge to the south to find Firebreather Burt who has a Lv 60 Weezing and a Lv 60 Magcargo. Head east into some grass to find a berry tree which yields 10 Pomeg Berries. Head north through a gap between a ledge and a cliff to reach the western portion of Route 4.

As you enter Route 4 from Route 3 to the south, walk north to find a Pokécenter. Head west from the entrance to of the Pokécenter to find an Ultra Ball. Inside the Pokécenter is move tutor who can teach your Pokémon Swagger. There is nothing else to do on this route, be sure and heal up before entering Mt. Moon to the east, you'll have a battle as soon as you enter.

Immediately upon entering Mt. Moon from Route 4, you'll be challenged to a battle by your Rival. His potential teams are as follows:

After defeating Silver, our next objective is to head up to Mt. Moon Square, and area reachable by the two ladders within Mt. Moon proper itself. Note: if you've played Gen 1 Pokémon games before, you'll notice as you explore that Mt. Moon has seemingly had some cave ins. There are two ladders surrounded by rocks that are unreachable, and a certain scientist has found himself in a rocky situation. The quickest way to reach Mt. Moon Square from the entrance is to head east into a cliff, three steps south, east past a small sign to the north, and then north at the first branch in the path. Ascend the ladder ahead to reach the Square.

After entering Mt. Moon Square, head east to find a house. Inside is a vendor who sells Moon Stones. The other NPC tells you that at night time, Clefairy come out to play, clueing you in to your next move. If it isn't already night time, adjust the time using the clock inside this house. Exit, jump the ledge to the south, take three steps south, and the head east into a rock. You'll find a Moon Stone to the south. From here, head north through a gap in the fence. Assuming it is night time, you will see a group of Clefairies playing around a small pond. Make your way north to find an unusual white rock. Select "Yes" when prompted to touch the rock which causes Jirachi to appear! Interact with it start the encounter, it will be Lv 50. Once you finish the enocunter with Jirachi, it will be time to make our way to the exit of Mt. Moon. Make your way out of the fenced area, and head east until you run into a cliff. You'll enter the mouth in the cave you see to the southeast, which takes you back into Mt. Moon proper. From the ladder you just descended, head east, north up some steps, east into a cliff, south into another cliff, east into a third cliff, and then south into the wall below. You'll ascend the staircase you see to the east which leads to the exit out of Mt. Moon!

As you enter Route 4 from Mt. Moon to the west, head east to see a berry tree which yields 10 Tamato Berries. Next to this tree is a move tutor who can teach your Pokémon Dynamicpunch. Jump a ledge to the east of this tutor and head south to battle Bird Keeper Hank, he has a Lv 59 Murkrow, and a Lv 59 Pidgeot. Jump another ledge to the south to battle Picnicker Sharon, she has a Lv 61 Furret, and a Lv 58 Rapidash. Head north through a gap between ledges, east, north through a gap between a ledge and some trees, and north through one more gap between ledges to battle Picnicker Hope who has a Lv 61 Ampharos. You'll find an Hp Up to the east between two ledges. That completes Route 4!

From Pewter City, head south out of town towards Route 2. Before heading through the gate to the south, Cut the tree you see blocking the path between two fences, and head into Diglett's Cave to the east. Assuming you've beaten him, you'll find Leader Brock inside. Talk to him to send him to the Fighting Dojo in Saffron for a rematch! Go back through the fence to Route 2 and then walk through the gate to the south. You'll find yourself in Viridian Forest. Head south to find Bug Catcher Doug who has a Lv 62 Ariados. Continue south into the treeline and the head east to find an Elixer. Head back to the dirt path to the west and go north through some grass and up some stairs to battle Bug Catcher Ed, he has three Lv 60 Beedrills. Go east, south down some stairs, continue south through the grass, and then head east once you reach the dirt path. At the end of this path, head south into some grass until you reach the cliff's edge, and the go east to find Leader Bugsy. Speak to him to transport him to the Fighting Dojo in Saffron where you can challenge him to a rematch. Just west of where Bugsy was is a Full Restore. Head back east and continue north until you ascend some stairs to find a Revive. Head north until you hit the treeline, go east, and then south down some stairs and into the treeline. Go west until you reach the dirt path, follow that path south down some stairs, and go east to find a Dire Hit. Head back to the dirt path to the west, south through some grass until you hit the treeline, and then west until you find a Full Heal in a patch of grass in the southwest corner of the forest. Go east out of this patch of grass, north at the first fork until you hit a cliff, and then west to find a Max Ether. Take one step south before heading east to find a Max Potion. Head south from here, around a large tree, and take the exit out of Viridian Forest!

After exiting the gate from Viridian Forest to the north, head south through a small portion of Route 2 to reach Viridian City! The Pokécenter is in the southern portion of the town. From the entrance of the Pokécenter, head west and Surf across a small pond to find a move tutor who can teach your Pokémon Sleep Talk. Just northeast of the Pokécenter is the Mart. Inside of the mart is a move tutor who can teach your Pokémon Double-Edge. The gym leader is currently gone from his gym, we won't be able to challenge him until we get our 15th badge.

The building directly north of the Viridian City Pokécenter is the Contest Hall. I will update this section once I've had the chance to reacclimate myself with Contest mechanics, for now, I would suggest Googling "gen 3 Pokémon contests mechanics" if you're wanting to take them on.

Go south from the Pokécenter in Viridian City to reach Route 1. Just as you enter the route, head west between two trees to find a berry tree which yields 5 Sitrus Berries. Head east to get back on the dirt path, then jump a ledge into a patch of grass to the south. In this grass is Cool Trainer Quinn who has a Lv 58 Ivysaur and a Lv 58 Starmie. Continue south, following the dirt path until you meet School Kid Danny. Danny has a Lv 55 Jynx, a Lv 55 Magmar, and a Lv 55 Electabuzz. Pallet Town is just south of where Danny is!

Welcome to Pallet Town! There is only one thing to do here, and that won't become available until we have all 16 badges. Let's head to the water on the south side of town and Surf to continue our journey.

From Pallet Town, start surfing south to enter Route 21. As you surf south, you'll see a lone NPC on an island to the east. This is Fisherman Arnold, he has a Lv 61 Lanturn and a Lv 61 Quagsire. Continue surfing south, the next trainer you will battle is Swimmer Seth who has a Lv 59 Quagsire, a Lv 59 Octillery, and a Lv 59 Gyarados. Continue surfing south past three islands to battle Swimmer Nikki. She has two Lv 58 Dewgongs and a Lv 58 Cloyster. Continue surfing south to reach Cinnabar Island! You can disembark on the southern side of the island.

Welcome to Cinnabar Island! There isn't a whole lot left on the island itself due to a volcanic explosion. Inside the Pokécenter, the NPC with the blonde hair is a move tutor who can teach your Pokémon Explosion. Outside, you can find Blue, the gym leader of Viridian City, hanging out in front of a pond to the north of the Pokécenter. To get him to return to Viridian City for a gym battle, we must collect 15 badges and then talk to him here. Where is the Cinnabar Island Gym you might ask? Let's heal up at the Pokécenter, and continue our expedition east.

From the Pokécenter on Cinnabar Island, walk to the shoreline to the south and surf east as far as you can, north as far as you can, and then continue east to reach Route 20. Just as you enter the route, you'll see a Fisherman and his golden Magikarp named Dennis. Best not to antagonize that particular fish, I've seen it Splash legendaries to death firsthand! Swimming east of Dennis Island is Swimmer Lori who has two Lv 62 Starmies. Continue east to find the west entrance to the Seafoam Islands.

As you enter the western entrance to the Seafoam Islands from Route 20, descend the ladder you see to the north to find the hidden Cinnabar Gym. The only trainer here is Leader Blaine. Blaine has a Lv 66 Rapidash holding a Quick Claw, a Lv 65 Magmortar holding a Sitrus Berry, a Lv 66 Houndoom holding a Miracle Seed, a Lv 65 Magcargo holding Leftovers, a Lv 67 Torkoal holding a White Herb, and a Lv 67 Camerupt holding Charcoal. Victory will net you the Volcanobadge and TM50 (Overheat).

As you enter the southern entrance to the Seafoam Islands from Route 20 to the west, walk west, south down a large set of stairs, south down a small set of stairs, seven steps west, and thirteen steps north. We have to bike across some broken ice here, so mount your bike and press R to switch gears.

Cross the three cracked ice tiles to the west and stop. From the now exposed hole in the ice, take three steps west to align yourself with a cracked ice tile to the north. Mount your bike, press R to shift gears, and bike north across the ice, some solid ground, and then eventually into some rocks above two rows of cracked ice, which you will fall through.

Falling through the ice will land you in some water. Surf north to find Articuno; it will be Lv 50. To exit the cave from here, ascend the stairs west of Articuno. Jump the ledge south of the ladder to skate across a large patch of ice. Continue south into a rock, then take a step east to fall through cracked ice. Walk south, surf south across some water onto land, take four steps south, walk east until you reach some water, and surf south until you disembark onto land. Walk west, north up some stairs, and ascend the ladder. Walk south down a small set of stairs, east, north up a small set of stairs, and then north up a large set of stairs. The exit is to the east of the top of the large set of stairs!

Once you have 15 badges, Fly to Cinnabar and speak to the NPC standing in the center of the island. This is the Viridian City gym leader, Blue, and he will head back to Viridian where we can now challenge him and get our final badge.

From the Fuchsia City Pokécenter, head south out of town to Route 19 and begin surfing south. Shortly after entering the water, you will battle Swimmer Jerome. He has a Lv 58 Vaporeon, a Lv 58 Tentacruel, and a Lv 58 Seaking. Surf 5-6 spaces west before continuing to surf south. You'll see two NPCs side by side in the water. The NPC on the left is Swimmer Tucker who has a Lv 60 Quilfish and a Lv 60 Cloyster. The NPC on the right is Swimmer Dawn who has a Lv 60 Seaking. Surf 8-9 spaces east before continuing south to battle Swimmer Harold, he has a Lv 62 Octillery and a Lv 61 Seadra. Below Harold is a cave that will be blocked off until you beat the Kanto League. Surf west from the cave to reach the eastern portion of Route 20. Continue surfing west on Route 20 to find Swimmer Cameron on the southern portion of this route. Cameron has a Lv 64 Azumarill. Continue surfing west and then north to battle Swimmer Nicole who has a Lv 60 Mantine, and a Lv 63 Lapras. Disembark onto the shore and continue west, you'll find a Shell Bell on the beach close to the northern entrance to Seafoam Islands. That is it for these routes, Fly to Viridian City and heal up, it's time to get our final badge!

From the Pokécenter in Viridian, head to the gym in the northeast portion of town. Assuming you have collected 15 badges and spoken to Leader Blue on Cinnabar, he will be awaiting you as the sole trainer in his gym. Blue has a Lv 69 Rhyperior holding a Sitrus Berry, a Lv 68 Pidgeot holding a Sharp Beak, a Lv 67 Machamp holding a Scope Lens, a Lv 68 Exeggutor holding Leftovers, a Lv 68 Tyranitar holding a Focus Band, and a Lv 69 Arcanine holding a Silk Scarf. Upon victory you'll be awarded the Earthbadge and TM08 (Bulk Up).

After acquiring your sixteenth badge, Fly to Pallet Town and head into Oak's Laboratory. Speaking to Oak will result in him lauding you for collecting all the badges in Kanto and will unlock Mt. Silver. We won't head there quite yet, but it is reachable via the gate leading to Victory Road.

Route 22 is a small route west of Viridian which leads to the gate connecting Johto to Kanto right before Victory Road. There is an optional cutscene available to those who have caught Celebi, if you have, make sure Celebi is at the head of your party before heading to Route 22. From the Viridian City Pokécenter, head west, north at the bend in the road, west at the first branch in the road, and then continue west to reach Route 22. Jump the ledge to the south and follow the brick road west. As you pass the fourth streetlamp, Celebi will suddenly jump and transport you back in time where you will discover the parentage and true motive of your Rival. There is one more event unlocked by Celebi, so let's check that out before taking on the Kanto League!

Be sure Celebi is in your party and heal your party, we have a battle coming up. Remember that old radio in Tohjo Falls? It's time to head back and find out what that was. Fly to New Bark Town and Surf east out of town onto Route 27 and enter the cave opening into Tohjo Falls. Climb the waterfall, surf east, descend another waterfall, and then disembark onto the land to the west. After walking west a short distance, you'll see a cave opening to the north. Put Celebi at the head of your party and enter the cave. After taking a step inside, Celebi will jump and transport you back in time where you will witness Giovanni hearing the Rocket broadcast from the radio tower alerting him to their return to power. He will inform you of his intent to rejoin his team at Goldenrod and will challenge you to a battle. Rocket Admin Giovanni has a Lv 60 Kangaskhan holding Leftovers, a Lv 61 Persian, a Lv 61 Honchkrow, a Lv 61 Nidoqueen, a Lv 60 Ursaluna, and a Lv 62 Nidoking. Getting beat by a child once more causes Giovanni to ditch his dreams for good!

Assuming you have acquired all 16 badges, it is now time to take on the Kanto Elite 4! Fly to Indigo Plateau and heal up. You'll see your Rival in front of the entrance leading to the Elite 4, he will challenge you one final time. His potential parties are:

Heal up once more after defeating your Rival and then enter the room leading to the E4. Your first battle will be against the Psychic user, Elite 4 Will.

In the next room you'll battle the Poison specialist, Elite 4 Koga.

In the third room, the Fighting user Elite 4 Bruno will be your opponent.

In the next room you'll battle the final member of the Elite 4, the Dark loving Elite 4 Karen.

In the final room, you'll be taking on the Dragon master, Champion Lance.

Upon victory, your party will be once again entered into the Hall Of Fame. You'll in New Bark Town after the credits roll. Any legendaries and static encounters (like Sudowoodo) will now respawn, and will continue to respawn upon each subsequent defeat of the Kanto E4 going forward. The GS Ball will also respawn at it's location in the Ruins of Alph, it has the second best catch odds of any ball in game, so be sure and snag that!

After you've beaten the Kanto E4, Fly to Fuchsia and head to the Safari Zone to the north. Speak to Steven (the NPC with gray hair at a table) to receive the Eon Ticket! We will be using this shortly.

Fly to Olivine City. From the Pokécenter, walk south as far as you can, and then walk eleven steps east. Assuming you've beaten the Kanto E4, talking to the NPC standing under the canopy will net you the Auroraticket! We will be using this shortly.

Once you have acquired the Eon Ticket from Steven, Fly to Olivine. From the Pokécenter, head south into the pier where the SS Aqua is docked. Speak to the Sailor and select Southern Island. There is only one path, follow it to enter a forest area to the north. Here you will find two Pokémon. The red one is a Lv 50 Latias, the blue is a Lv 50 Latios. After battling both, return to the Sailor and speak to him to head back to Olivine.

Once you have acquired the Auroraticket from the NPC in Olivine, head south into the pier where the SS Aqua is docked. Speak to the Sailor and select Birth Island. This is a small island featuring four meteorites scattered around, and a triangle in the center. Interacting with the triangle will cause it to move. To summon the legendary here, you must take the shortest path to the triangle and interact with it after it moves. To start, interact with the southern face. Take one step south, three steps west, then interact with the eastern face. Take three steps east, five steps north, then interact with the southern face. Take five steps south, three steps east, then interact with the western face. Take three steps north, five steps west, then interact with the eastern face. Take four steps east then interact with the western face. Take two steps west, two steps south, then interact with the northern face. Take one step south, three steps west, then interact with the eastern face. Take six steps east and interact with the western face. Take three steps west and interact with the northern face. Finally, take three steps north then interact with the southern face to summon a Lv 70 Deoxys. Note: Unlike most stationary Pokémon, Deoxys will flee if you run away, so be sure and save before interacting with the triangle the final time if you'd like to shiny hunt Deoxys. Soft resetting is necessary to accomplish this feat. If you have Deoxys in your party and return to Birth Island, you can interact with the meteorites to change it's form. Each form affects the stats and the Ability of Deoxys. The northern meteorite draws out the Speed Form, the western meteorite draws out the Attack Form, the meteorite in the eastern corner draws out the Normal Form, and the meteorite just north of the one in the eastern corner draws out the Defense Form. You can change Deoxys' form as often as you'd like!

Once you've beaten the Kanto League, Rayquaza is now available to catch. Fly to the Safari Zone Gate. From there, head south across a bridge, east across a bridge, south past a berry tree and down a small set of stairs, west across a bridge, south, east across a bridge, north, east across a bridge, and north into a cave. Descend the ladder, descend another ladder, then south out of the cave. Surf south as far as you can, head west past a beach occupied by a Staryu, then disembark on a beach with a tall staircase. Head north up two staircases then enter the cave entrance into the Embedded Tower. Inside you can encounter a Lv 70 Rayquaza.

Once you've beaten the Kanto League, Kyogre is now available to catch. Fly to Fuchsia City and head south out of town towards Route 19. Surf south as far as you can and disembark on the bank of a cave on the southeast corner of the route. Inside this cave is a Lv 70 Kyogre.

Once you've beaten the Kanto League, Groudon is now available to catch. Fly to Cinnabar Island and surf east towards Route 20. Continue surfing east until you reach the southern entrance to the Seafoam Islands. Enter the cave and descend the ladder into Blaine's Gym. Behind the platform where Blaine previously stood is a cave entrance. In here, you'll find a Lv 70 Groudon.

Once you have beaten the Kanto League, Cerulean Cave will be open. Fly to Cerulean and head north out of town towards Route 24. After crossing the bridge, surf south on the water west of the bridge until you can disembark on land in front of a cave opening. This is the entrance to Cerulean Cave. After entering the cave, smash a rock and surf north, disembarking on the land just north of the entrance with a ladder you can ascend. Ascend the ladder and follow the path, smashing two rocks along the way, to find a Protein. Return to and descend the ladder back to the first floor and begin surfing west. Once you get to a branch in the path, disembark onto the land to the north. The ladder you see to the north leads nowhere, so head west and collect the PP Up on the ground. Head south from where you just found the PP Up and ascend the ladder you see just north of a smashable rock. Once again, follow the path, smashing one rock along the way, to find a Zinc. Return to and descend the ladder back to the first floor. Head south from the ladder, smash the rock, and collect the Rare Candy on the ground. Smash another rock in front of a small staircase to the east, head up the stairs onto a cliff, and head east as far as you can. Head north to find a Max Elixer just east of a ladder. Ascend that ladder and follow the short path south, smashing a rock along the way, to find a Big Pearl. Return to and descend the ladder back to the first floor. Head west, smash a rock in front of a small set of stairs to the south, and ascend the ladder you see on a small cliff to the east. This path isn't as straightforward as the others we have encountered in this cave to this point. Head west, then turn south at the first branch in the path. Proceed west, then south two steps, east four steps, and follow this path south, east, north, and then east until you reach a ladder, which you will descend. Descend one more ladder on the next floor then head north, east, then smash a rock in front of a small set of stairs. Head east, north, then east and smash a rock. Hugging the wall to the north, proceed east until you can go north between two cliffs to find an Ultra Ball. Walk south as far as you can, then west and smash a rock in front of a small set of stairs. Ascend the small set of stairs, take two steps east, then head north to find a Max Revive. Head west and smash a rock in front a small set of stairs to the south. Follow this path south until you come across another rock blocking a set of stairs, smash that rock and ascend the stairs. Surf ten spaces west on the water you see to the west, surf north, and disembark onto a small cliff where you can encounter a Lv 80 Mewtwo!

As previously discussed, you can find the gym leaders at various places in the overworld after defeating them. Speaking to them will cause them to transport to the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City where you can challenge them to rematches which net 10 BP upon defeat. Most of them can be found as soon as you defeat the Johto League, though there are a couple of exceptions that will be noted below. If you've followed the walkthrough to this point, there are a handful that we have already encountered. This section will consolidate that information so one can use this section to find everyone.

Falkner: Falkner is found on the fifth floor of the Celadon Department Store.

Pryce: Pryce is found on the southwest side of the Lake of Rage.

Brock: Brock is found inside the entrance to Diglett's Cave, accessible from Route 2.

Misty: Misty is found just south of the Sea Cottage on Route 25.

LT Surge: LT Surge is found in front of the Power Plant.

Erika: Erika is found just south of the Celadon Department Store.

Janine: Janine is found in the gate leading to Victory Road. The quickest way to get here is through Route 22.

Sabrina: Sabrina is found on the Olivine Docks.

Blaine: Blaine is found on Cinnabar Island after acquiring your sixteenth badge.

Blue: Blue is found in his gym after acquiring his badge. Exit and reenter the gym after defeating him to trigger the new dialogue.

Here are the teams used by the Gym Leaders for their rematches! The Johto leaders will have new teams, the Kanto ones will retain the teams they originally had. You can challenge them however many times you'd like.

Once you've acquired all sixteen badges and then spoken to Oak, the path to Mt. Silver will be unlocked. Head west out of Viridian City to Route 22. On the western side of this route is the gate that leads to Victory Road. As you enter the gate, walk across the center hallway to the hallway going west and exit. You'll now be on Route 28! Take one step west, then walk south into a cliff. Take twelve steps west, surf across the small pond into grass to the south, walk west until you hit a tree, one step north, west into a cliff, south, and then north up a small staircase. Walk west until you see another staircase to the north, head north up the stairs, and then west until you see yet another staircase. Walk north up these stairs, and follow the dirt path north and then west until you come to a Pokécenter. From the entrance of the Pokécenter, walk east into the grass next to the Pokécenter, north into a cliff, then east until you see a staircase. Head south down these stairs, east, and south down another set of stairs. Head east on the path while hugging the trees to the north until you hit a cliff, north, until you see a set of stairs, then head south down these stairs. Walk east and enter the house you see to the north. Speak to the NPC in this house to receive TM47 (Steel Wing). From here, either walk back or Fly to the Pokécenter outside of Mt. Silver.

From the entrance of the Pokécenter, jump the ledge to the east and head north to find a cave opening into Mt. Silver. After entering the mountain, walk west and begin surfing. Surf two spaces west and then north up a waterfall. Dismbark onto a staircase to the north and enter the cave opening you see. Inside this cave is a Spell Tag. Exit the cave, surf west, and disembark on the bank to the west. Head up the small staircase and walk west to find an Ultra Ball. Return to the water and surf north, disembarking onto the tall staircase you see. You'll find a Full Restore on the ground to the west. Head back east to the small staircase slightly north, surf north up a waterfall, disembark onto a staircase to the north, then enter the cave opening you see. Walk west into a cliff, north, east at the first branch in the path, and then south down a large set of stairs. You'll encounter a Lv 50 Moltres here. After your encounter with Moltres, either walk back to the entrance of Mt Silver, or use an Escape Rope.

Back at the entrance of Mt. Silver, walk north up a large staircase to find a Max Potion. Walk through the cave opening you see to the east. Outside, walk east into the cliffside, south, north up a set of stairs, west, north up another set of stairs, west, and north up yet another set of stairs. Continue north, south down a set of stairs to the east, six steps south, and enter the cave opening to the west. Inside this cave you will find a Dire Hit. Exit the cave and go south down a set of stairs to the east. Walk east, south down a set of stairs, and make your way to another set of stairs to the south. Go north up these stairs and walk west into a cave opening to the west. Once inside, walk west until you can head north, continuing north up a large set of stairs and into a cave opening to the north. In the next room, walk north up a set of stairs, west into a cliff, north up another set of stairs, west into the wall, south until you hit another wall, east, north at the branch in the path and up a set of stairs to the north. Walk west into a cliff, north up a set of stairs, and then east until you see a cave opening to the north. You'll arrive back outside in a snowy portion of Mt. Silver. Walk east as far as you can and then south, ignoring the first cave opening you see to the west. Continue south and enter the second cave opening you see to the west. Inside, walk south and exit a cave opening you see to the east. Back outside, walk south as far as you can, west past a cave opening to the north, north up a set of stairs you see just west of the cave opening, west, north up a second set of stairs, east, and then north to find a Nevermeltice. Head back south down the two sets of stairs we just climbed and then enter the cave opening just east of the second set of stairs. Head west and then south through a cave opening to the south. Back outside, head north up a set of stairs to the east of the cave opening, then west. Head north up the westernmost staircase, continuing north up a second staircase to find a Rare Candy. Head back south down the two sets of stairs, and then head north up the set of stairs just east of the second set of stairs. Continue north up another set of stairs and enter the cave opening to the north. Inside, head west, north up a large set of stairs, and enter the cave opening to the north. On the summit, you will find PKMN Trainer Red to the north. Prepare yourself for the most difficult battle in the main storyline of the game! Red's team is:

After defeating Red, the credits will roll, and you will reawaken in New Bark Town. Congratulations, assuming you've followed the walkthrough, you've beaten the main storyline of the game! If you haven't completed your Pokedex, now would be a great time to do so. Remember, once you've completed your dex, you can talk to the Game Designer inside Celadon Mansion to receive your Diploma. After completing your dex, the Battle Frontier will likely hold the final content for you to exhaust! I'd recommend starting a new run and playing around with the randomizer settings for a completely unique run, even after several playthroughs during my playtesting, the randomizer was a gamechanger for this Pokémon Trainer.
